“Absolutely lovely place”
Reviewed 14 March 2013 via mobile

we had absolutely lovely dinner here on early March. Food was excellent and service was great. Anything requested was not too much for the waiter on duty.

“Strange experience.”
Reviewed 15 December 2012

So, we stopped in for a class of wine on our way home.
The "not so excited to be at work" bar maid (who I kind of pitty for having to wear that costume, so maybe that's why she wasn't very enthusiastic) asked if we wanted sweet or dry wine- no brands, types of grapes etc. We opted for dry, and got something that might have been juice - or at the very best a super-sweet dessert wine.
Then there was some braking of glasses, and almost getting puked on on our way to the rest room.
Granted, we did not eat, and I realize that a lot of people are happy about the food, so that may be where we went wrong.
I think our conclusion is that our conclusion will be: May have good food, but based on the wine and the service I am not going back to find out. If you have kids that likes sailboats, however, this is the place to take them... but in the day time, so as to avoid them being puked on by drunk russians.

“Popped in for lunch - delightful surprise!”
Reviewed 20 October 2012

From the outside, this restaurant has windows into what looks just like a small cafe/bar. We popped in for a quick lunch.

As we went in, we were offered to sit upstairs. Having not realised there was an upstairs, we said yes - and got a fab surprise! The upstairs is decked out like the inside of a large ship. One end has windows make to imitate sailing on a sea (movement of blue lights in the windows), and the decor throughout is very consistent with the theme.

We looked through the menu and saw the food looked great. It wasn't busy (we are used to this, travelling off season), but imagine in the evening it is busier with a great buzz.

We mentioned to the waitress that we had a tour booked and needed to be in and out within an hour. We ordered a kriek beer (great beer choices on the menu) and a sprite. For food, I had the seafood soup coupled with a goats cheese salad, my husband went for the steak tartar.

They were all delicious - the goats cheese salad particularly good - paired with ingredients like raspberries, beetroot, melon, pine nuts.... really tasty.
The steak tartar ia "DIY" which is a great touch - the plate has all the ingredients such as the sauce, capers, onions, the meat, lemon... and you mix it to your taste. he really enjoyed this.
The soup had plenty of fish and mussels in.

Wish we had found this sooner so we could visit in an evening for dinner. Hope others realise it's more than just the cafe front you see downstairs! Perhaps a screen or picture in the downstairs window will help it advertise.
Also, it has a beautiful outside terrace upstairs, and great mini tables around the central bar for drinks too.
