Owner description: This jumble of 14th- and 15th-century architecture with its medieval walls, needling spires and twisting, cobblestone streets is also the site of many of the city's important historic attractions and museums including the House of the Brotherhood of the Blackheads, St. Catherine's Guild and the 15th-century Guildhall that now houses the History Museum.

“One of the largest intact Medieval Old Towns”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Much of the Old town is renovated since their independence. Architectural treasures from ca 1000 to 1920 (Style Nouveau!). Take a large card for your camera.
Not so great: hordes of drunken Scandinavians on weekend drinking excursions (2 hour ferry crossing to Helsinki).

“Pretty As A Picture.”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We stopped at Tallinn on our Baltic Cruise and decided to walk it on our own. We found, and printed off, a walking tour that went from the ship. The centre of town is about a 15 minute walk from the port.

The town centre is absolutely delightful. As you walk around the narrow streets you pass pretty churches, imposing city walls that you can go up, old castle buildings, and expansive vistas across the town and the port. There are plenty of small shops, bars and restaurants, and a market in the main square to buy gifts, The buildings are fairy tale and very photogenic.

We loved Tallinn, probably our favourite stop on our cruise. Very easy to do on your own, and very rewarding.

Wonderful old town full of hidden secrets; we stayed for the third time in Tallinn and feel we have still only touched the surface

We toured Tallinn's Old Town on a rainy chilly day, but still enjoyed it immensely. Quaint and charming. And, great amber shopping nearby!
