“Great service in the great location”
Reviewed 16 May 2011

Spent one week in this hotel, in the heart of the old town of Tallinn. I have traveled extensively throughout the world year round for over 20 years, so generally a hotel is hotel to me, business hotels meet your needs with adequate service. This small hotel had excellent service, a young staff that was eager to assist in any way, and good basic services (breakfast, wireless internet, car service, etc). While I didn't partake, my collegues dined at the restaurante one night and said it was the best meal of the week, and we went to a couple of Tallinn's more "exclusive" places. So all in all I would say very good value for the money, a great location and charming/cozy manner, so I would rate it highly.

Hotel Schlossle

What a superb hotel, everything the previous positive reviews state is correct.

You step through the door into an almost medieval building, beautifully decorated with quality furnishings and antiques to match.

Immediately our luggage was taken from the taxi and was in our room by the time the smiling and efficient receptionist Julia checked us in.

The rooms are a sensible size (room 26, deluxe) and very well appointed, double glazed windows overlooking the street, not a square wall in sight, all adding to the charm of the spotless room. A flat screen TV with a good range of channels in English and a DVD player are in evidence. DVDs are available from reception. The bathroom is a decent size with a shower over bath, a quality range of toiletries in plentiful supply. Wifi is picked up in all rooms and is free of charge.

Breakfast offers a wide range of quality food including the choice of smoked salmon, Buck’s Fizz and a range of hot dishes cooked to order including a full English breakfast. Mikke served us and was so precise and careful in laying the fresh linen table cloth and cutlery, it was almost like an art form. Breakfast is served downstairs in the cellars, which adds to the atmosphere.

The staff, are a credit to the hotel and they go beyond all expectations to look after you, any requests you make are dealt with quickly and reliably. Mara the front of house manager, always seems to be there to help but is never obtrusive, she leads the team of well motivated staff all dedicated to ensuring the comfort of the guests.

The hotel is located in a very quiet street within the old town district of Tallinn and within easy walking distance of countless restaurants and bars. It is about ten minutes walk to the docks and ferries, five minutes to the castle and parliament building and two minutes from the main square.

Having visited many countries and stayed in quality hotels, you might find hotels with a wider range of facilities, but I am sure you will never find a hotel that provides a better service to its guests.

Well done and congratulations to the Schlossle, it’s no wonder their list of guests includes Royalty, prominent politicians past and present, famous authors, and a who’s who of the music world.

This hotel, in an excellent location, met our expectations and contributed enormously to our enjoyable stay in Tallinn. The room was a good size and extermely cosy but maybe not what you would immediately regard as 5* at first glance. However evertything was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was standard. The only disappointing aspect to hotel factilities was the lack of a bar, though drinks can be served by waiter service in the main foyer or living rooms. Not a major deal. An excellent breakfast is served every morning in the beautiful main dining room. A special mention must go to the staff who are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. We got an excellent recommendation for a restaurant (Rebe) despite having opted at late notice not to take up our hotel restaurant reservation (lack of other diners on the night in question - not a problem usually!). Overall we'd recommend this hotel and stay there again.

We stayed in room 2 which has its entrance in the courtyard. This suited us brilliantly as we needed pushchair access. The room itself was large as was the bathroom having its own bath and separate shower. The room was cleaned daily to a high specification and the beds turned down in the evening. Bottles of water were placed next to our beds each evening as were apples. Moulton Brown bath accessories were provided. They even laid slippers out for us each evening. The additional touches were lovely. We read one review that said the food was not good. On the contrary the food was superb. Both breakfeast and evening meal. The staff are the most friendly we have ever encountered and we have travelled extensively. If your looking for first class service in a first class hotel in a superb location then this is the place for you. Within minutes you are in the town square and for a few additional minutes walk you are in the modern main shopping centre. We loved it. will definitely stay again.

The hotel is comfortable in every sense and the staff are attentive to every need. Hotel is situated perfectly, if you want to stay in middle of old town. You are really close to many of Tallinn's excellent restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and shopping centers, and a number of other tourist attractions. The overall interior design of the hotel is very, very nice - you feel like stepping into a romantic and charming medieval castle with modern infrastructure and services. The staff was always very helpful, friendly and polite and were all impeccably dressed, in a very distinguished way, appropriate for a hotel with prestige
The rooms were very spacious, tastefully furnished and extremely comfortable. Nothing was missing in terms of the extras which distinguish an excellent hotel from a good one. We had an extremely nice room facing the small street and as practically no traffic passes there, it was quiet and peaceful.
Breakfast was included in the room price, so we assumed a standard 'buffet' breakfast. But breakfast was a buffet plus anything we wanted from the a la carte menu.
I will highly recommend the hotel.

Arrived tired and late one evening, walked through an unassuming doorway on a small cobbled street and entered an oasis of calm, comfort and fantastic customer service! It was late, but the reception team knew exactly who we were. (benefit I guess of there only being 23 rooms). We were immediately offered tea/coffee in front of a roaring log fire whilst our cases were quickly and quietly whisked out of the taxi and up to our rooms. Breakfast was included in the room price, so we assumed a standard 'buffet' breakfast. Breakfast was a buffet plus anything we wanted from the a la carte menu, plus complementary fizz! It was wonderful. We ate one night in the hotel restaurant. It wasn't cheap but the food and presentation was outstanding. We stayed four nights and the service from everyone throughout was impeccable. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. It is very deservedly a 'five star' hotel.
