Reviewed 16 December 2013

Hotel Barons is a few hundred yards from the central square in the Old Town and perfectly placed for walking around the old town of Tallinn, as well as for getting to the trains, trams and buses. Very comfortable hotel - our junior suite was spacious, clean and welcoming. All staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, spending time to sort out bus routes and times. Great value with the room rate including breakfast (plenty to set you up for a day's sightseeing) and buffet dinner. If you are looking for comfort, value for money, friendliness and a warm welcome to the stunningly beautiful city of Tallinn, Hotel Barons is the place to stay.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and got exactly that.

Great old bank building in the Tallinn Old Town. Parking (secure, pay) behind the next building. Great service, nice room (5th floor), dinner & breakfast included into the room bill. Food OK but nothing special. 2 min walk to the Raekoja plats!

Room Tip: Top floor was excellent; no traffic noise & no noise from the streets.

I was a bit worried about the comments on having been bothered by the street noise. Truth is that there is a lively pub right across the narrow street. Our room was not facing the street and that obviously made all the difference, since it was nice and quiet even though it was weekend. The service was appropriate and the breakfast buffet was a very positive surprise. Nice stay, we'll be back.

Barons is situated in the very center of Tallinns old town. It's a very old (build in 1910's) hotel with a nice feeling in it. You can see the history everywhere you look at. Service is very good. Breakfast as well as dinner is included in the price. Despite all good, I would strongly suggest you to choose another hotel for the weekend. Across a very narrow street there is a pub operating until 5 AM on fridays and 6 AM on saturdays. The noice of people shouting outside will keep you up for certain. Without the noice Barons would be perfect.

Room Tip: Rooms with the city view are facing a noisy pub.

Great place to stay. Rooms decent, proper cooked breakfast up until 11am. Loved the old school 1920's lift. Right in the heart of the Old Town. Thirty paces from the main bars and about 100 yards from the main square. A beautiful city well worth a visit.

The hotel room delivered everything promised by my reservation. The room I had was like a mini suite with a nice configuration consisting of bath with jacuzzi jets, a toilet and sink , separate from a small middle area with couch chairs and tv, and then the bedroom with Queen sized bed and a skylight. There were nice amenities like dental kit, shave kit as well as a louffa-like sponge and the obligatory shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The other nice thing we appreciated was the breakfast which consisted of both hot and cold items and juice. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the hardboiled eggs fresh and hot. Also like the apple and orange juices. But something different here that I haven't previously experience was the dinner buffet offered included with room. My favorite item was the chicken wings, and the tom kha soup. I imagine some travelers will not take advantage of the dinner as they are out experiencing the local cuisine but it is nice to know it is offered and could conceivably save a guest money during a trip to Tallinn. I really liked the location of the Barons Hotel being a short walk from all Old town locations like town hall square but also a short walk from the outer edge and therefore accessible to taxi and public transport. Our taxi ride to the airport cost 7.5 euros and took about 15minutes at 7am. The hotel staff was very good about calling the taxi for us. My only negatives are that there is a revolving door at the entrance which the hotel is proud of as it is a heritage door, but makes it difficult to take luggage in and out. And the internet was very slow. I tested the wireless connection with my iPhone app and it downloaded at 0.10Mb/s and uploaded at 0.60Mb/s and I got the same result 3 times. The hotel staff offered me a cable to use instead of wifi but my computer could not accomodate it.

Room Tip: I was here off season, but It could get noisy during summer. My room 310 seemed like a it would be...

Stayed at the Barons hotel for two nights and couldn't sleep on both nights cos of the noise on the streets. There are 2-3 bars opposite the hotel and it gets very noisy at night time. The room itself was pretty spacious and nice but the bathroom stunk of sewerage...it was disgusting.
It's a lovely boutique hotel with friendly staff and nice breakfast but the toilet really lets them down. I wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't recommend this hotel purely cos of the stinky toilets and noisy streets.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor and we could still hear the noise on the streets.
