“.....near old city......”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

We booked in this hotel Zen Double room for two nights. The room was small and uncomfortable without sitting area, large bathroom with simple spa bath, without extra bath amenities. We were waiting couple hours for shower gel, shower caps, bathrobe and slippers. The bed was comfortable, it was very hot in the room, air conditioner functioned poorly. Coffee/ tea maker facilities, computer in the room. Wi-Fi is available in the room and was free of the charge. Hotel's location is near the Tallinn old city, walking distance 7 -10 min, easy to find. Good small parking, additional cost 9 EUR. Breakfast was good. Value for money is inadequate for service and hotel's star rate.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side are noisy

The Kreutzwald is a good hotel, well-equipped and well run, it's only disadvantage being position, some 10-15 minutes' walk from the old town. Given this, and the lack of any nearby food and drink outlets, you might think that the hotel would be keen to make such provision, and although there is a restaurant, we were told the bar would not open until July. Why? Breakfasts were good and varied, although the servery layout could do with a bit of thought. TV and PC in every room, free WiFi everywhere. Generally friendly staff.

hello, thanks for the review. We are actually only 300 yards from the biggest shopping centre in Tallinn with many bars and restaurants, instead of turning right to the old town you must turn right to the Kriistine Centre. We give a orientation sheet on arrival , i would be keen to know if you were given one? We have a new restaurant and bar called Niipernadi in the hotel which focuses on fresh local Estonian cuisine , using fresh products from our eco farm on the northern coast in Vihula Manor, it has an area for the bar also. The Kreutzwald Library will open on the 20th June after a small cosmetic upgrade, so we will have 2 bars , one with a pleasant lounge feel , the other is part of our populat restaurant. I am sorry our communication seems to have not been so clear but i hope you re-visit soon.
thanks
Paul

Hotel booked, (primarily on tripadvisor reviews and poundage restrictions) a whooping 14hours prior to arrival due to a sudden and severe case of hostel fever.

Hotel centrally located a short 8euro taxi ride from the airport and a 10 minute stroll from heart of the old town. We weren't expecting three nights of luxury and decadence but were expecting threes of reasonable comfort in an air conditioned room. Unfortunately didn't get the latter, on arrival the aircon was faulty but were promised by the receptionist that it would be fixed within hours, this sadly wasn't the case and then had to endure three room moves only to end in a room hotter than we started.
The next morning the same receptionist, informed us that all the aircon units in the hotel were faulty so moving rooms would be pointless.
Not impressed at all with the customer care.

Hello, thanks for your review, I am sorry about this situation, It was an unexpected result of the completion of our new spa and sauna complex and the building company could not rectify it as quickly as we thought. Our reception team offered you to change rooms as some rooms ACs were working during certain times, they also placed fans in the rooms also. The problem is solved now and the AC is working 100% , it was difficult as the temperatures reached 29 degrees.

We focus on customer care 100% and we take problems very seriously. Please could you send me your email address ?

I travelled to Tallinn with my boyfriend, sister and her other half for a long weekend and we stayed for 3 nights from 3-6th of may.
The hotel itself is faultless, the check-in was quick and the receptionist was friendly. Our room was spacious with a large comfy bed, coffee machine, mini bar (reasonably priced too!), basket of bath salts (also reasonably priced), and everything you need in a basic hotel room. The bathroom was gorgeous, we had a jacuzzi bath and I must have had 4 baths in total that weekend, there wasn't a shower which is a bit of a pain if baths aren't your thing but there is a shower head, you just have to stand in the bath and duck under the showerhead - not ideal for my 6'5 boyfriend who doesn't like baths, but he managed.

We only had our complimentary breakfast at the hotel as we ate out in the old town every night but the breakfast was decent. Can't comment on the spa facilities as we didn't use them.

The only problem with this hotel is that it is a 10-15 minute walk into the main town where everything is happening, at first this didn't bother us but because we had to walk back and forth several times a day, it got a bit boring. Taxis are available and very cheap so I recommend a taxi now and then - you can request one at reception.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed for two nights in the Kreutzwald Hotel and was very impressed. The hotel has recently been renovated and the whole place is very high quality. Our room was large and comfortable and furnished to a good standard, with flat screen tv and even a computer! Staff throughout were very friendly and happy to help with all our requests. We ate dinner the first night in the hotel's own Brazilian-inspired restaurant, which was also very good - steak on a hot tile was fun and tasty.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the old town, so there might be more central places to stay, but it's a pleasant walk and means you're away from the noise of nightclubs and bars.

We've just returned from Tallinn and a wonderful weekend in the Kreutzwald Hotel. Located close to the old town, lovely food and delightful staff - whether on shift at 6pm or 4am. Perhaps best to not try and offer to open up the kitchen by yourself at 5am in the hunt for bacon.

The rooms are great, with everything included from internet access to a great shower. Don't leave the window open all night. It gets cold in Tallinn.

I think I can safely say that we all had a Raili good time. Perhaps you had to be there.
