“Old and substandard”
Reviewed 1 June 2012

Stayed 1 night in the individual rooms. I would not call them cheap because the price was about what I would pay for a 3-4 star individual room in other parts of Europe. The room felt like I was time travelling to the 1970's - 80's. Very old bathroom. I did not feel like even showering. There were not even any toilettries, just a soap dispenser. The site listed that the jacuzzi and sauna were available for free to guests. Turns out you have to pay an extra that is equivalent to 30% of the room price. Definitely not what I expected from a 4 star hotel.

Accommodated in April 2011 and was very satisfied of the hotel. Good Sokos Hotel quality as in Finland. Superior room was spacious and clean, breakfast was basic and satisfying. Location could not be better, just a corner of Tallinn Old City and a walking distance from ferry ports e.g. to Finland, Germany, Russia and Sweden. Hotel also has a bus stop for free bus ride to the biggest shopping centre in Estonia, Rocca al Mare.

The hotel was very nice and updated. We upgraded to a room/suite with a sauna, purely for the additional space in the main room as we were traveling with our 2 children. The lobby was conntected to a multi-floor mall, which was convenient for letting the kids run or for errands such as a supermarket. The staff provided us with 2 pack-n-plays, each with a kids blanket and a childrens potty, surprisingly. Breakfast was provided and had decent variety. The location was prime as its adjacent to Old Town and the wonderful things it offers. The lobby also had a kids play area which was nice and clean. We did take the KGB Museum tour in the hotel which was educational and entertaining. I woudl recommend this hotel to others. I would recommend for US travelers to bring a washcloth or similar bathing item as it isn't provided.

Great location directly at the entrance to Old Town and great panorama view from the upper floors. Unfortunately we arrived at the same time when a whole cruise ship of Finns were being checked in. I suggest the management should figure out how to make a check-in of large tourist groups more efficient (e.g. by giving out registration forms to all group at the same time, not just when it is their turn at the registration desk).
Sure, this was probably bad luck but unfortunately the hotel walls ar so thin that everything is heard from all neighboring rooms, and you don't get much sleep if other tourists are partying the whole night long, which was our case. Then in the morning they all wait in the que for the breakfast, so after waiting 20 minutes, we left for another place to have the breakfast. Perhaps it was all bad timing (Saturdays are the days when cruise ships arrive to Tallinn) and bad luck but I don't want ever go to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Upper floors have fantastic panorama view

It's a good hotel near the city center and the port. We had a great view from the 20th floor, the room was clean and very nice. It might be too hot in summer though. The breakfast was abundant! The bathroom was clean and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the last couple of years. The location just outside old town is very convenient for everything you might want to do. Ample breakfast of good quality comes with the price of the room. If you take a ferry to get there it's a ten minute walk from the port, but taxis are readily available too.

Room Tip: We usually book a superior room, worth the extra cost, but normal rooms are OK too.
