This hotel is pretty good. The room isn't massive but perfectly adequete, breakfast was fine, and the double bed was more of a twin really.

But the location is really excellent, on a quiet street but literally seconds away from all the Old Town action, and I paid a lot less than I could have done for some of the slightly fancier hotels just up the street.

A mid-upscale hotel located in the Old Town, about a five minute walk from the train station side of Tallinn (if you come into the international bus/coach depot you'll be about a ten minute tram ride on the No. 2--stay on the tram until you get to the railroad station because it will first swing all the way around the perimeter of the Old Town and will save quite a walk if you don't get off too soon, as I did).

Old Town Square is only five minutes away but the hotel feels many minutes away from the bustle and noise of the Old Town, though compared to Riga, and even Vilnius, Tallinn is a relatively sedate place. I was really impressed by the unique nature of the town--truly, a fully integrated and fascinating medieval core that somehow has survived, almost intact, for many hundreds of years. The hotel is comfortable, with wonderful service and comfortable rooms, decorated in an old-Tallinn style without forgoing hotel accommodations or making you feel that you've been cast too far back into the Dark Ages.

The breakfast is full and well-done and I used the terrace and restaurant for lunch and dinner at prices that were reasonable.

If you are solo, a couple or a business traveler who wants to be near the Old Town and is willing to pay for a mid-priced hotel with full services in a quiet environment, I highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Not much noise since the hotel is just outside the core of Old Town but ask for a room along the sid...

This hotel is a standard *** nothing special but the location is great as it is in the old town. The breakfast is lovely and the staff are very helpful.

Staff was excellent. I stopped here several times while exploring Tallinn to sit outside, rest, enjoy a great A. Le Coq beer and people watch. I enjoyed the cheese sampler platter and the next visit really enjoyed the calamari with mango and jalepeno sauce! Hotel and inside looked very nice and clean but did not stay here, maybe next time!

Baltic Hotel is a very good value for money in Tallinn. The hotel is located nearby famous Pikk street and close to the old town of Tallinn. Rooms are nice with everything you need inside. We asked for a quiet room that was on Vaike-Kloostry (very quiet indeed). Breakfast was EXCELLENT with calf eggs, delicious cheese and bread and delightful smoked salmon. We would recommend this hotel who wants to be in the city center of Tallinn next to every places of interest.

We stayed two nights and were thrilled to have a large room with windows that could be opened. The room also have tea making facilities that were really appreciated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location very good, inside the old town. Like other reviewers we had WIFI problems requiring us to go to the reception area for good connection. The hotel was small and captured the medieval feel of Tallinn beautifully. We were pleased to be staying here and not one of the bland modern multi-story hotels.

There is a lot of positives about the Imperial Baltic. The desk and cleaning staff were great. I loved the location. Breakfast was fine. The room was good in terms of space, fridge, television, goodish shower. The main let down was the lack of internet. Yes, the hotel had wifi but it did not reach all the rooms -- including ours (210).

The front desk staff were great. Very bubbly and friendly and also very helpful. Full marks. The room was cleaned on time and it was a good job. However, we had two of the smallest beds you could imagine. It reminded me of being in a student dorm in the 1960s. The room was excessively warm and the only way of dealing with this was to open the window (but that wasn't too bad).

The location was good if you were looking for a base in the old town (we were). And then it is only a 15 minute walk to the `new' town anyway. We liked being able to get to anywhere in the old town easily.

Breakfast was okay. Not your bacon and eggs style but there were things to eat. The breakfast room was positively medieval (in the best and literal sense) but the staff we all Po-faced. Little warmth.

One of the reasons we picked the hotel was access to internet. Thus we were disappointed to find that the only way we could access it was by going downstairs to a very public area. We wanted to use skype and didn't want people to hear our conversation. We did complain. They did offer us another room (but with a bed that was a really small double -- so no good for us). We just wanted what was advertised -- wifi in each room. The hotel was full so no possibility of a room change.
I would go back but would want to establish in advance that the room could actually pick up internet.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel building is from 1877. It was erected against the city wall which is a late phenomenon in historical tradition. In the contemporary organization of the city it was strategically important from the perspective of protecting the city to leave a free space between the city wall and the buildings. The first data about the dwellings being built against the city wall states 17th century when the city wall started to lose its strategic importance over the bastions. No extensive reconstruction has been done in the building, but throughout times an attempt has been made to preserve everything historically valuable. On the second half of the 19th century, the building was owned by family von Stackelbergs. ... more   less
