“Comfort and Convenience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Baltic Hotel Imperial for 2 nights on our trip to Tallinn. The hotel was well located on the edge of Old Town- far enough from the touristy sections that it was peaceful and enjoyable, but an easy walking distance from all the Old Town attractions. The hotel itself is built into part of the Old Town wall which added a unique atmosphere.

We arrived late and the staff was still happy to help us. The room was simple, but fitted with every traveling need. The bathroom was enormous, with a giant tub, and the bed was incredibly comfortable (the simple perhaps under appreciated luxuries). Although the room was not over-the-top impressive, it was definitely one of our favorite rooms in our month long European trek. The breakfast offered a large amount of options and was set out in a beautiful display.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quaint and historic feel within Old Town Tallinn.

Stayed here for 4 nights back in March.
Cannot fault the hotel at all.
We booked a double room and it was massive!
Only thing is that it did feel cold in the room sometimes but we think it was down to the radiator under the window not working properly / or both of us coming down with colds.
The hotel has its own restaurant and pub which we used both during our short stay here.
Location was great. Right next to the castle and a few streets away from the main square, with more restaurants, shops, cafes and bars and other little attractions.
If we come back to Tallin one day we would choose to stay here and would recommend the hotel to amyone.

Room Tip: perfect for a little city break. Within walking distance to everything

Everything was ready when I checked in so it lasted about 2 minutes. The room was small but everything I needed was there. clean too. THe wifi was too weak for my phone but I managed to catch another network nearby. Breakfast was good (the salmon was excellent :)). The hotel is well situation in the old city and has several restaurants not far away. The view from the room was nice but you could hear people talking when getting back to their room.

This hotel is pretty good. The room isn't massive but perfectly adequete, breakfast was fine, and the double bed was more of a twin really.

But the location is really excellent, on a quiet street but literally seconds away from all the Old Town action, and I paid a lot less than I could have done for some of the slightly fancier hotels just up the street.

A mid-upscale hotel located in the Old Town, about a five minute walk from the train station side of Tallinn (if you come into the international bus/coach depot you'll be about a ten minute tram ride on the No. 2--stay on the tram until you get to the railroad station because it will first swing all the way around the perimeter of the Old Town and will save quite a walk if you don't get off too soon, as I did).

Old Town Square is only five minutes away but the hotel feels many minutes away from the bustle and noise of the Old Town, though compared to Riga, and even Vilnius, Tallinn is a relatively sedate place. I was really impressed by the unique nature of the town--truly, a fully integrated and fascinating medieval core that somehow has survived, almost intact, for many hundreds of years. The hotel is comfortable, with wonderful service and comfortable rooms, decorated in an old-Tallinn style without forgoing hotel accommodations or making you feel that you've been cast too far back into the Dark Ages.

The breakfast is full and well-done and I used the terrace and restaurant for lunch and dinner at prices that were reasonable.

If you are solo, a couple or a business traveler who wants to be near the Old Town and is willing to pay for a mid-priced hotel with full services in a quiet environment, I highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Not much noise since the hotel is just outside the core of Old Town but ask for a room along the sid...

This hotel is a standard *** nothing special but the location is great as it is in the old town. The breakfast is lovely and the staff are very helpful.

Staff was excellent. I stopped here several times while exploring Tallinn to sit outside, rest, enjoy a great A. Le Coq beer and people watch. I enjoyed the cheese sampler platter and the next visit really enjoyed the calamari with mango and jalepeno sauce! Hotel and inside looked very nice and clean but did not stay here, maybe next time!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel building is from 1877. It was erected against the city wall which is a late phenomenon in historical tradition. In the contemporary organization of the city it was strategically important from the perspective of protecting the city to leave a free space between the city wall and the buildings. The first data about the dwellings being built against the city wall states 17th century when the city wall started to lose its strategic importance over the bastions. No extensive reconstruction has been done in the building, but throughout times an attempt has been made to preserve everything historically valuable. On the second half of the 19th century, the building was owned by family von Stackelbergs. ... more   less
