“Wonderful value!”
Reviewed 21 October 2009

We arrived at the hotel well before noon and were delighted to get our room so early. The room was elegant and stylish, with plenty of cupboards to get our things into. The mini bar was well equipped, but we wished for more Estonian products, maybe some delicious Kalev chocholate and Saku beer?

After spending the whole day on the town, the quiet room and super comfy bed felt like a safe haven and it it was easy to get a good night's sleep. The breakfast buffet had everything we could hope for, also some nice local dishes and, it is served until 10 o'clock on weekdays and 11 at weekend. So no need to wake up at dawn to catch the breakfast.

Also the service was very friendly and helpful. Overall we were totally satisfied and are more than happy to return. Unbeatable class at reasonable price, a great value if we ever saw one!

My husband and I, our daughter's family stayed at the Baltic Hotel Imperial and highly recommend it. We loved the delicious complimentary full breakfast buffet. The price was very reasonable and when I called to get the advertised special rate, the clerk suggested an even better rate. The location is right in the old town and the front desk staff was wonderful. The Sunday when we were checking out there was a marathon race going through town and our taxi couldn't get to the hotel. The reception desk personel were very concerned. They kept phoning the the taxi and then told us where to go to catch it and get to our ferrie in time. The only drawback was that we had requested two rollaway beds for our grandchildren and they sent one bed and one portacrib saying they didn't have any more rollaways that night.

we stayed four days last month at this hotel....it is located just inside the ancient wall of the old town....you could not ask for a better location....rooms are comfortable, if a bit small, but they are spotless. beds are good and baths are modern and clean....staff is of a high caliber...they offer an over 65 50% discount. food is good but expensive....breakfast is very nice with something for everyone...quick taxi trip to the bus station or the ferry pier---about $9......
i booked directly with the hotel and had several e mails with them back and forth...
there are two bakeries directly opposite for goodies and coffee, etc...

we would return in a heartbeat... good value for money...

Stayed here for the weekend and had a lovely time. Hotel is located on the north side of the old town and has part of the medieval wall running through it, indeed we had part of that wall in the room! The rooms are not huge and are very basic, with a shower room instead of a bath. TV is free and has lots of channels to choose from. Free internet access via a socket on the wall. The staff were incredibly helpful and they even keep a stock of plug converters when you forget to take one with you! Breakfast was quite good and was available until 11am at the weekend. Check out was 12 and they looked after our luggage until the flight. It is located in a quiet part of town as well with no clubs too close; main square less than 5 mins walk away though so best of both worlds.

If you want a cosy hotel right in the heart of the old town then I cannot recommend this enough.

This hotel is promoted as a 4 or even a 5 star hotel, but compared to West-Europe or Asia, it is more like a 3 star hotel. Staff is really friendly. It is close (5-10 minutes taxi-ride) to the Vikingline ferry. By the way: don't be cheated by taxi-drivers and always ask them to turn on the meter.

Breakfast was good, but nothing execptional. The hote is on the edge of the city centre. Tallinn can be easily visited on foot. View from the hotel room was great. (Although our friend who stayed in another room had a wall view room. :) ) I give it 4 stars, because I think you have to see it in proportion to the country, with all respect.

The Olde Hanse restaurant is hyped in reviews, but we had a very dissapointing experience. Okay, the staff is friendly and the theme is nice, but the food and wine were terrible. I can recommend restaurant Ribe.

If you wan't to visit a "wrong" club, go to the Venus Club and drink some Finlandia Vodka. :)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel building is from 1877. It was erected against the city wall which is a late phenomenon in historical tradition. In the contemporary organization of the city it was strategically important from the perspective of protecting the city to leave a free space between the city wall and the buildings. The first data about the dwellings being built against the city wall states 17th century when the city wall started to lose its strategic importance over the bastions. No extensive reconstruction has been done in the building, but throughout times an attempt has been made to preserve everything historically valuable. On the second half of the 19th century, the building was owned by family von Stackelbergs. ... more   less
