“A great hotel that is on the outskirts of Old Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2010

This place was phenomenal, a very friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, and a location that will put you into the center of Old Town in about a 7 minute walk. They don't have wi-fi, instead you have to use a wired connection but you can borrow a cord from them. The breakfast here is also excellent. I strongly recommend this place as the price was great compared to hotels in the area.

Sorry I apprecaite this review is well out of date but as I have time thought would add my positive comments regarding the Baltic Imperial,We had booked 2 doubel rooms with breakfast.
We are 2 couples and visited in March 2008. The hotel arranged transport from the airport for us, check in was swift and our rooms were out of this world. We had queen bed, a settee and armchair, writing desk/chair, wonderful large wardrobe and a mini kitchenette. The upholstery' & curtains were a wonderful deep red, the whole room was fabulous and really relaxing
There were 3 sets of windows on one wall and another set on the other so when we looked out the views were brill especially from 4.30 one morninf when it started to snow...I wil attach some photographs later
The bathroom was up to date and extrmely clean.
The buffet breakfast was plentiful - we didnt try the restaurant although we could smell cheese (a speciality dish of the restaurant) if you entered the hotel from the door near the restaurant.
Would we stay here again YES.. staff were great and we were impressed with our rooms....
The location was excellent right in the old town... we loved Talling very much and will return some day..

If you are lookin' for a romantic hotel, in a fantastic position to visit the old town and in a quiet place Baltic Hotel is perfect. Not so big (only 32 rooms), but very confortable, with classical furniture and free internet access. Staff is friendly, breakfast good, and there is also a restaurant. Toompea and Raekoia Plats are near, and also the railway station. The only fault is the absence of a garage for your car (even if there is a public but expensive parking very close). We enjoyed our stay here and can recommend it.

Comfortable, clean and quiet. That's all I need in a hotel and that's what I got.No complaints what so ever.
A beautiful, spacious room, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, polite staff and a big breakfast in the morning.
The hotel is situated in the far corner of the Old Town and there are no night clubs nearby to ruin your beauty sleep but still it's only a 5min walk to the town centre.I would call that a perfect location! I will definately go back.

The two good things about this hotel are location and the breakfast. The hotel is located right in the hart of the city - The Old Town - its a walking distance to the best restaurants and nightclubs in the city and easy access to the public transport. Breakfast was great (can't say anything bad here) - very russian with blinis's, salads and everything that it possible to have.
Now, bad things. By 6pm the hotel run out of hot water. It was -10 C outside and I had to take cold shower before going out to the restaurant (beacuse they weren't sure when they will have hot water again). I wasn't very happy - the hotel managment said that it is a small hotel and i had to understand that... I didn't understand what exactly i had to understand...Hmmm... The room itself was very small and it had a tiny bathroom that looked like a cupbord. It wasn't the cleanest room that i've seen and the old and daggy carpet on the floor didn't help.
Did i mention the noice?.. It was coming from the bar or restaurant downstairs and music was so lound that that it felt like we had a private dance floor in our room.

My family of 8 stayed at the Baltic Imperial over New Year. Location is great, less than 5 mins walk to Old Town Square, and all cafes & bars.
Clean, tidy rooms, if compact.
Breakfast was varied & plentiful.
Only criticism being we found that staff whilst helpful could have been friendlier.
Restaurant recommendation - Grandma's place "Vanaema Juvres" delicious food and very friendly staff, it is a small restaurant so it is worth booking in advance.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel building is from 1877. It was erected against the city wall which is a late phenomenon in historical tradition. In the contemporary organization of the city it was strategically important from the perspective of protecting the city to leave a free space between the city wall and the buildings. The first data about the dwellings being built against the city wall states 17th century when the city wall started to lose its strategic importance over the bastions. No extensive reconstruction has been done in the building, but throughout times an attempt has been made to preserve everything historically valuable. On the second half of the 19th century, the building was owned by family von Stackelbergs. ... more   less
