I've seen more beautiful churches, but it is calm inside. The real reason you should visit this church is to go up the tower. The climb (and descent) is interesting, but once you get to the top you are rewarded with a brilliant (unmatched) view of the Old Town from above.

If you feel yourself strong enough worth to climb 258 steps up to the observation deck. Historical site, nice view, impresive interior.

On a sunny day it is nice to climb to this tower. Ticket is quite cheap. The climbing requires some strenght. No elevator. But the view up there is good. You can do nice photos. As l remember this church tower was the tallest in Europe when it was built.

We stopped here on a self guided walking tour of beautiful Tallinn. The charge to get into the main church was too high so we did not bother, but the cost of climbing the tower to see the views was cheap so we did that.

We had to wait about 5 minutes at the bottom while dozens of people piled out of the narrow dark exit of the stairwell. Then we were going up. It really is a steep and narrow spiral staircase. Walking up the outside by the wall was okay, but having to walk on the inside, where the step is very narrow, is a bit hairy. It was a very hot day and it quickly heated up in there. It was slow going with all the people coming down again. This continued to the top.

Once out in the open you are treated to some amazing views of the surrounding town and port. It was heaving up there so we shuffled around the 4 sides of the tower, taking photos, before starting the descent. Going down was much the same, but you had to hang on to the rope in the middle on the narrow steps. We got down feeling hot and tired.

The view makes the climb worthwhile, but it is not to be underestimated.

If you are reasonably fit, this is a great climb. A nice way to get oriented to the city as the views were great. As others have said it is rather steep, but don't let that stop you.
