“The Climb is Worth It”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We had been walking around the Lower Town for several hours when we came upon Oleviste Church. We hadn’t read much about it but were hoping to go up in the tower. It was just going to open (10AM) so in we went. The cost was 2 euros and up the staircase we went. 195 feet and 258 steps later we were out on the narrow viewing platform with the most incredible 360° view of Tallinn. There is only one way up and the same way down so you will be passing people going the other direction in a very narrow staircase. The stone steps are steep and can be very slippery so make sure you have shoes with good traction. If you are at all afraid of heights or close spaces this is not for you. You also should be in pretty good physical condition as the climb is very strenuous and there are very few places to stop and rest. If you make it all the way to the top the reward is worth the effort. The interior of the church is unremarkable but still worth seeing.

“Great view from the tower.”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

At 60m above the ground level there are brilliant 360 degree views as one walks around the tower at the base of the steeple. The red tiled rooftops of the buildings, the stone walls and towers plus the cruise ships and ferries in the harbour can all be seen. In the sunshine it all looks magnificent. The circular climb up the narrow stone steps may be a challenge if not fit and passing people on the way up and down may not be for everyone but for the price around 3Euros it is well worth it. The church is OK too.

“Simple but good”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

The interior is a bit simple, but unusual, with its coats of arms on the white walls. The tower walk does not go very high, you can see the same from panoramic view points, but the staircase is really ancient and nice.

“Church is ok, but go up the tower!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

I've seen more beautiful churches, but it is calm inside. The real reason you should visit this church is to go up the tower. The climb (and descent) is interesting, but once you get to the top you are rewarded with a brilliant (unmatched) view of the Old Town from above.

“Good place for panoramic view”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

If you feel yourself strong enough worth to climb 258 steps up to the observation deck. Historical site, nice view, impresive interior.
