The room's clean, a PC, TV set and phone are at hand. Shower wasn't working well, but still it was okay. It takes 5 minutes to walk to historical center. We didn't manage to check out on time, we were like 15 minutes late, but a nice lady didn't say anything and we could also leave our bags behind the receptionist counter to wander round the town and take them a few hours later to get on bus.
Don't miss a great Double Coffee opposite the street.
Please note it's more like a student hotel, nothing chic or elegant, just great to sleep over and keep exploring Tallinn.

Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website - the G9 doesn't have any liveried doormen, and the large beds may be in the renovated rooms. We stayed in the regular rooms, and found them adequate, but certainly not as we'd been led to expect.

The hotel is on the third floor of a building which contains offices and the like, which makes it nice and quiet as there aren't several flights of stairs full of excited tourists every night. Still, Gonsiori is a relatively major street with a frequent tram running down it, so the noise may become a bit invasive for some.

We had a TV with the usual assortment of channels - mostly Estonian, but also CNN - a comparatively large bathroom (although it had no separate shower, so everything kept getting soaked) and a bed which could comfortably sleep one and a quarter people. Still, when you're only a couple of minutes from the cobbled streets of the Old Town - a World Heritage area if ever I saw one - you're not going to spend too long in your room.
Breakfast isn't included, but there's an arrangement with a nearby cafe if you want to take that route. There's also the option of hitting the streets and finding some food there, as we did.

The biggest drawback to the hotel was the service. You're given a sign to hang over your room door asking for it to be cleaned, and you simply must hang it there, otherwise nothing happens. The room may not be cleaned until dinnertime, and the bed may not be made (ours wasn't), but someone will at least deliver fresh towels, even if they're only handtowels.

Sorry to have to burst the bubble of nearly all positive reviews. I stayed at the Hotel G9 for three nights. I LOVED Tallinn but my experience here was just ok. First, the service was indifferent at best--a blond woman at the front desk seemed more interested in watching tv than helping me out. She acted annoyed every time I had a question. Second, the place looks and feels like a mental ward--very institutional. Third, maybe it was the particular room I got, but the shower overflowed and poured into the rest of the bathroom--there weren't any floor mats or other way to wipe up the excess water. Fourth, unless all you want to do is word process, DON"T pay to use the computer in your room. The computer was at least two years old (used windows 98) and had an old version of Internet Explorer so many sites were not accessible. You're better off going to the internet cafe across the corner from the tourist office in Tallinn's old town. The location was good but I think I'll pay extra to stay in a better hotel next time.
