We thought about booking a private tour for two couples , but found out ahead that at the time, no one else was signed up for the public tour. We still had a private tour! Our guide, Kertu, was at the designated meeting place ahead of schedule, as were we. Off we went sampling regional foods and drink in Tallinn, seeing the sights at the same time. Kertu was engaging, informative and answered all of our questions. What a fun way to see Tallinn Old Town. Definitely recommend Food Sightseeing Estonia!

We arrived in Tallinn and had scheduled a food tour with this company. Nele Vosu met us for our 3 hour tour. Unfortunately, she was a little rushed because her company had set her up with another tour back to back with ours. But, we did visit some very old quaint restaurants for a taste of the local fare. The 60 Euro per person definitely is way too much. Probably 30-40 E is the max it should be.
If I were to do it again, i would do some bargaining for a better price.

Thank you very much for this review and feedback, which is highly appreciated.
July 10th was truly a busy day for us, as aside of regular leisure tourists there were lot of cruise passengers visiting Tallinn. We had a several food tours departing within this day, and it caused us the shortage of food tour guides, as some tours did run almost simultaneously. My apologies at this point, that our guide had to leave in about half an hour prior the official tour end, though the last wine stop for the tour is being always guided by the wine cellar own guides.
We definitely try to avoid this kind of guide overbooking situation in the future, as it might truly cause some discomfort for our clients, when the guide has to leave at last food-stop place, before the tour actually ends. My apologies at this point.
What comes to the cost of the tour, then this particular tour started and ended in Tallinn Cruise Port, and therefore included return transfers with 1st class mini-bus (max ~20 seats). Cost for attending our regular scheduled Tallinn Food Tour is €55 per participants (2-12 pax). Prices for private tours depend on the number of participants, so if to book it privately for your own group of people, with more than 6 paying persons, then the price pp drops to €55, and with more than 12 persons accordingly to €50 pp.
With this tour on 10th of July for 8 persons, the price €60 pp included return transfers, making thereby the cost for the return transfers only €5 per person, which in my mind is very reasonably priced. The "Tallinn Food Tour" walking tour itself did cost €55 per person, which is according to the set price range for the number of participants in the tour - 8 (Price range for the private tour for 7-11 participants is €55 pp).

This review is a long time coming, as we were in Tallinn in Oct. of '13, but it really was one of the best parts of our visit there. Paul guided our group of 4 to various spots around the scenic walled-in portion of the city. Our friends really liked what they sampled & Paul did an amazing job at making sure that my husband & I also had many tasty treats (1 of us veg. & the other vegan). Everything we had was so delicious & the blend of food as well as city history made for such a fun afternoon--I think we could be hooked on this food tour thing! Would definitely recommend this tour to friends.

It was a cold, rainy, miserable day for the weather but we had a fantastic tour anyway. We had arranged with Paul Toots for a tour for cruise ship passengers, we were picked up and returned to the cruise ship pier. Our guise, Stanalonis (spelling?) was excellent, very enthused about the city, country of Estonia and the food. This was not only a food tour but also a history/culture tour He showed us many of the sights in Tallinn and gave us history and discussed customs and life in Estonia. The food was very good, started out with pumpkin soup and ended with a wine tasting and many items in between. Estonia is just starting to develop a wine industry. The tour was scheduled to be three hours but we went over 4 1/2 hours as the guide was so good and all the participants were keenly interested in the subject.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Tallinn and Estonia. Of our three week vacation we thought this tour was the highlight of the trip. The only slightly negative is that the owner prefers payment by wire transfer which is not something we Americans do every day. He also accepts cash on the day of the tour.

I learned so much on this gudied tour of Tallinn on the Medieval food tour. Foodsightseeing Estonia offers a number of food tours, but the Medieval one I opted for gave me a lot to sample, starting with some marzipan in the oldest pharmacy in continuous use in Europe, where marzipan is believed to have been created. A stop in Haa Eesti Asi at 23 Viru Street gave me a look at a foodie’s dream emporium. In between sampling several tasty featured foods, I jotted down the names of things that caught my eye. Along with Estonian cheeses, flavored honeys, and crackers made from blueberries, cranberries or black currants, I listed in my notebook exotics such as canned bear meat, wild bear terrine, moose meat, jarred eel and moose and horse sausage.

Our next stop, at Old City Hall, built in 1404, was in a candlelit, brick vaulted, Medieval tavern on the first floor where ladies in period garb handed us bowls of delicious elk and wild boar soup along with a meat pie that resembled a flaky croissant. The stop at the Luscher and Matiesen winery on Troopea Hill, gave us not only a panoramic view of the city but also a taste of some delicious wine made from grapes from France and Spain.

We had the bulk of our eating experience at Estlander, a restaurant with 17th century looks and traditional Estonian cuisine. Of the two options available on the tour, I chose the four meat stew (chicken, pork, beef and elk) with sides of charcoal baked potato, warm sauerkraut and carrots in mascarpone cream sauce.
Dessert was just a short walk away in an old merchant’s house, Olde Hansa, where I reveled in "a velvet delight of the nobility," which translates into a delicious rose pudding.
