Owner description: Viru Gates were built in the 14thC, and the towers still standing today are only a part of the original structure. Viru Gates are located in the eastern section of the town wall. The main tower of the gates was built in its initial form in 1345-1355. Today, Viru Gates are one of the entrances into the Old Town leading to numerous shops and restaurants in Viru Street.

The gates are lovely and even if you dont enter the old town the first time from them, coming down to them from inside us also lovely.

“Nice view of a medieval gate”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

For me was the first time I see a real and preserve scene of a medieval gate. Also the area is very interesting with a lot of shopping and restaurants. It worth locating it and take a picture.

“Impressed”
Reviewed 3 June 2013

When I first visited Tallinn, I was really impressed by Viru Gates. This medieval building is really outstanding. I would highly recommend you to visit the city to see it.
if you're going out for a date, you can always buy some beautiful flowers there. Prices are reasonable and flowers are fresh.

“Welcome to The Old Town”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

The two towers on either side of Viru are all that remians of a once imposing gate to the old city. They effectively separate the old town from the new one. Just ouside the gate can be found a host of fresh flower stalls which provide a wonderful assault on the senses as you walk past them.
