Owner description: Viru Gates were built in the 14thC, and the towers still standing today are only a part of the original structure. Viru Gates are located in the eastern section of the town wall. The main tower of the gates was built in its initial form in 1345-1355. Today, Viru Gates are one of the entrances into the Old Town leading to numerous shops and restaurants in Viru Street.

You will be greeted with flowers (not literally) as there are flower shops right next to the gate. The towers are the perfect examples of whats in the old town. Lots of souvenirs shops.

These Gates allow for entry into and exit of the Old Town of Tallinn. It was our first visit and we enjoyed every moment. The place is full of souvenir and fresh flower shops. It's worth a look and pictures.

The Viru Gates are majestic and very well preserved. It was great feeling going through the gates passing many flower and souvenir shops.

The gates are lovely and even if you dont enter the old town the first time from them, coming down to them from inside us also lovely.

For me was the first time I see a real and preserve scene of a medieval gate. Also the area is very interesting with a lot of shopping and restaurants. It worth locating it and take a picture.
