On our first night in Tallinn, we escaped from the rain into the first restaurant we came to that did not have photos of their food out the front. A table was available and when seated we read the menu. We knew immediately that this was going to be a good food and wine experience. The wild boar dish was sensational and the goat dish was good. Our starters as well as the bread were delicious.

Cru has a very good chef, but he is let down by the rest of the experience.
I had the duck egg and asparagus appetizer, a beautifully cooked deer steak and a chocolate on chocolate dessert. The food was well prepared and tasty, but not exceptional.
Something was missing for a restaurant with so many accolades and with high prices for Estonia. No extras were served (amouse bouche) and the wine was served warm. We were also given paper napkins. The service was decent.
In general, I expected more.

First of all, we needed to wait more than one hour to have our meals. Quite a long time with children! Portions were quite small, especially for children. Kids were still hungry after the dinner.

The food here was excellent (I had the goat, which was the tastiest and tenderest goat I have ever eaten), as was the wine selection. It was recommended by an Estonian friend because the chef is actually going to represent Estonia in the chef olympics next year.

Our friends from Sweden wanted a quick lunch in Old Town in Tallinn and we wanted to eat in new place, so we decided to book restaurant Cru. Excellent choise! We know before that the head chef Dmitri Haljukov will represent Estonia in the chef olympics final Bocuse d'Or in Lyon 2015 and seem a good reason to taste his kills. And it was incredible! Everyone tasted different courses and the winner in main courses was coat - not very common animal in Estonia, but made excellent way! Without drinks will be also foods price level very reasonable.
