The location is excellent in a quiet far corner of the town. The Old town is small so you can walk anywhere within 5 minutes.

Breakfast is good - Continental with cold cuts, cheeses etc. Also Porridge and herrings.

Rooms are quite small, but not by London standards.

Very clean, very helpful staff.

I think it is the best value capital city hotel I have ever used. Especially bearing in mind that the Old Town is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The old city wall disects the hotel and forms a featire of the hotel.

We stayed at the Meriton Old Town for 2 nights at the end of February. The hotel is a two-star establishment, we thought it was overpriced. Not value for money at all. The situation on the edge of the old town is nice, but the rooms to the back face a busy road and must be quite noisy. We booked a more spacious room, what the hotel calls a "Bella Vita" room, but is was tiny too. The rooms pictured on the website are the bigger ones. Miniscule! The twin beds are narrow. I suppose they have to be to fit into the room (ours was about 2 x 4.5 metres, and the bathroom about 1 x 2 m). We had a kettle and nescafe/teabags in the room, but these were not replaced, and neither were the dirty cups. The rooms are in the old building itself and are clean and attractively presented and furnished, and the reception/cafe area is modern and interesting. Breakfast was very basic; no problem if you're happy with tea and toast and a few other bits but otherwise not much of a selection However, they do say that only a continental breakfast is provided so this is OK. The young man at the reception was great. Because it was so cold and the hotel has no sitting area (the rooms are too small to do anything else but lie on the bed, and there is no armchair chair to sit in, just a couple of metal bistro-type chairs) we changed to the sister hotel, the Grand, which he organised for us, even getting us the same price. Much better value for money. All in all the Meriton Old Town is fine but we thought it did not represent value for money, considering all the other hotel options available.
