Charming hotel and integrated into the ancient city wall of Tallinn. Clean and cosy and eye for detail. The only drawback were the small rooms, although very clean. There are larger and more expensive Bella Vista rooms, but still.
Better suited for single travellers.
Location is great and atmosphere very pleasant.

I read the previous review before I went, and I wholeheartedly agree -- the hotel is cute and conveniently located just past the entrance to Old Town. The lobby and restaurant are modern and nicely done and will set your room expectations high. We got what they called the "family room" which was on the basement level. It was spacious and adequate but nothing to write home about. The breakfast was very good.

Beware of the rude taxi drivers! We had to tell our driver from the airport several times which Meriton we were going to. He was extremely surly and refused to make change for the equivalent of $10 USD when we paid him. Fortunately, the hotel is a short walk to the ferry terminal.

The Old Town is great! You will love it. Definitely grab a late night dinner at Hell Hunt (a pub a short walk from the hotel). The place was jam packed on a late Tuesday night and the food was inexpensive and excellent. The local beer was good too.

Superb location for Old Town however the rooms are extremely small, we enjoyed fine dry weather when we visited last week but I could see that in inclement times they would prove uncomfortable, the en suite bathroom must have been created by an expert in miniturisation.
That said the staff are generally friendly, helpful & speak excellent English
Room cost was reasonable at about 85 euros per room per night including breakfast(we werea couple in a "double"room) which was a buffett & offered a good varieaty but get down before 10-00 as at 5 minutes past the hour everything is swept away to make the restaurent ready for the public.

We stayed in Meriton old town hotel in July 2006 for 5 nights. As my family are motorbike mad, the main reason for the trip was to make a visit to the place where our dear friend, the great Joey Dunlop had fatally crashed during the Tallinn road race in July 2000.

The hotel reception was clean and quite modern, this lulls you into a false sense of security....then you see your room! We were all in doubles, (floors 1, 2 and 3!) but in reality these were more like single rooms. The decor is anything but modern, but the rooms were relatively clean despite the awful smell which sometimes came from the bathrooms.. note this was from all 3 bathrooms!

The breakfast room serves as a cafe to the outside visitor and also serves as a lounge/bar. The breakfasts were included and had a good array of food. The staff were pleasant so overall it was a pleasant enough stay. The hotel is in a brilliant location in the old part of the town, just a stroll to join the nightlife down the street.

Be aware of the very rude taxi drivers who are determined to rip you off!
I would stay here again, but would like a more realistic sized double room!

We stayed at the Meriton Old Town Hotel for a week.
It was situated in a very central and convenient location. The rooms were small but comfortable and clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We stayed bed and breakfast, and found the breakfast adequate.
This hotel has only a small bar area ( which is also the reception ) so we never saw anyone drinking in the hotel.
If you want a quiet hotel, look no further! This is the one for you! We didnt hear a sound all week. We slept undisturbed all night. We didnt hear a voice or a door closing or anything.
Maybe it wouldnt suit people wanting a more lively atmosphere, but it suited us perfectly.

New hotel built on the edge of the old town. Mid price range. Decent location, since the old town is quite small and can be easily walked round. Rooms are small. We paid for an upgrade to a larger room and then got booted out of the room after the first night, because a regular visitor wanted it. A free bottle of sparkling wine did at least make up for the disappointment. The food is pretty decent, with a good selection at breakfast. Make it plain from the start that you won't pay for extras unless you've signed for them. We were asked to pay for a number of items charged to our room, but which we had never had.
Take a day trip on the ferry to Helsinki, it's pretty cheap, takes you right to the city centre and gives you plenty of time to look round without having to pay exhorbitant hotel costs. The Old Town hotel is around 10 to 15 minutes from the ferry terminal.

I and a friend of mine stayed at the Meriton Old Town for a weekend in October 2005. It's budgethotel nothing less, nothing more. Rooms are small but clean, service is good and breakfast okey. Best of it all is the location! Close to all the fun pubs, clubs, sights and shoppingareas. Besides, if you're visiting Tallin make sure you book a hotel in the Old Town. Thats where all the acion is (by that I mean atmosphere, culture and restaurants).
