I've enjoyed my stay in the hotel tremendously!
Perfect room, excellent breakfast ànd, very important for me too, being a single man/traveller, a very friendly and helpful staff. I loved the city as well, so in short a must-go and see destination ànd place to stay!!

The Portus was a lovely location to stay at during our short holiday in Tallinn. It was easy to get around the city, particularly Old Town, from there and we were particularly impressed by the level of service. The staff was helpful and friendly for all our needs, and were willing to provide us with great tips about the city - what to see, where to eat, etc.

The rooms themselves were also excellent. They were clean, spacious and the overall aesthetics of the property were very modern - clean, minimalist lines, and provided a nice capture of Tallinn's mix between old and new.

I would definitely recommend a stay at the Portus.

  • Liked — The service.
  • Disliked — Not very romantic, I guess... but for a normal holiday, it wasn't a concern.

Stayed here for one night, it was a good experience. The hotel has a "young" retro interior design. Slightly worn, but entirely all right. Breakfast was good, the rooms clean. The only issue we had was that the bathroom had a smell. This disappeared after pouring some water in the two floor drains (typical problem for a room that has not been used for a while). Within easy walking distance to the old town (approx 1 km). Free outside parking or for a fee indoors. Good wifi.

We stayed there for two nights on our trip through Scandinavia. The rooms are nice and there is plenty of space.

Don't be too alarmed by appearance when you walk in. The motif is post modern with rock stars thrown all about. Lots of the names are also morphed from rock star names. You will either like it or find it a bit cheezy.

The only downside is that the rooms we stayed in was a two twin bed room and they were...just a little small. I am 5'10" and about 220lbs and I had to make sure that I wouldn't roll off the bed in the middle of the night.

The hotel itself is located right on the port, but it is only an easy 5-10 minute walk into the old town. There is a bus that goes in from the hotel to the old town, but we never tried it.

It is about a 10 minute ride by cab to/from the airport and if the cabbie is honest should only cost about $10USD.

  • Liked — Excellent location, sizable accomodations
  • Disliked — The twin beds were at best a single

City Hotel Portus is a good clean hotel far from the city center in the port of Tallinn. The hotel rooms are clean spacious and above all [as the hotel is on the port] safe. Nice decorated with posters of rock stars. The staff trying to be helpful but the majority speaks very poor English. The center of the city is very beautiful but only at day light as at night casinos and prostitution make life a little bit difficult.
Estonians are not the most polite people i have ever met. As the western way of life invaded the country in a very rapid way, someone who visits this country feels that all Estonians want to be rich in a short time and they are using every way possible.
Taxis shops cafes and restaurants are not so trustworthy. They charge high and the services are not very good.
Exception to the rule the restaurant Old Hansa one of the best i have ever visited in all the cities i have ever been.
Anyway if someone wants to visit Tallinn Hotel Portus is a good choice.
If i would stay to this hotel again? Absolutely not because there is no t a possibility to visit Tallinn again!

We have been several times in City Hotel Portus and it has always been a very pleasant experience. When you enter the hotel, the people in reception always welcome you with smiling faces. Booking in the hotel has been quick, because the people taking care of the reservations have also done their work properly.

There is a garage in the hotel which is very important when arriving with a car from abroad. The nights in the hotel have been pretty quiet, there hardly is any disturbance from the other hotel guests.

Breakfast is very good and the people working in Cafe Retro are very wonderful.

Because the hotel is so close to the city centre (actually in the city centre), we have experienced Tallinn simply by walking.

If we ever have had something to ask about our booking or something else concerning staying in the hotel, the people in the 'customer service' have been ready to help and give advice.

  • Liked — Quietness
  • Disliked — The Cafe closed too early
