“The most beautiful girl in the reception”
Reviewed 13 April 2007

The hotel is greatly located, very elegant and comfortable inside, rooms very cosy and at the same time modern. Breakfast is great and the food in the restaurant very interesting. The staff is smiling and helpful. And the most beautiful girl is in the reception. The tall one with black hair, she's just perfect, like a dream.

This is a really lovely hotel. Rooms have plenty of character in an old style and are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. As you are literally right in the middle of the Old Town, it can be a bit noisy in the squares outside (at the weekend especially) but the rooms have double glazing which blocks most of it out. Maybe ear plugs required for the very light sleepers amongst you. The location far outweighs this though. Very close to all the main sites in the Old Town and staff are very friendly and helpful in providing information on everything from your doorstep to further afield.

Great hotel, very nice decor. I found the staff were very friendly/helpful. The hotel is situated in the town centre which is very convenient but beware of the noise on Thurs/Fri/Sat nights. I had a room which overlooked the main square and it was buzzing till 3am! As this is an old building the sound insulation isn't great. Fortunately I had my earplugs so it wasn't too bad.

This is a boutique hotel and it has a nice character (I much prefer it to the hiltons/marriots of this world). There were a couple of teething problems (like the shower) but in general I would highly recommend it.

  • Disliked — Noise from the square outside
  • Tips/Secrets — Take some earplugs if you staying over the weekend!

Savoy Boutique Hotel is a quite small, newly opened hotel - perfectly located in the Old Town of Tallinn. I stayed here in October 2006 and I absolutely loved this hotel.

Ok, the room could have been bigger, but it was beautifully decorated, and it had everything we needed. The beds were large and comfortable, and there was a work desk and a seating area. Amenities included high-speed cable & wireless internet connection (which was free of charge), a flatscreen tv, and a minibar. (Unusually, the contents of the minibar (Orange juice, coke, beer, water, chocolate) were free of charge.) We were also provided with thick fluffy bathrobes, and slippers. All rooms are non-smoking.

Service was *very* friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was nice - and I *loved* the way the tables were set for breakfast!:o)

We booked through bookings.org and paid 100 euro/night, which I think was a very good deal - I would certainly stay here again for that price.

We booked the Savoy Boutique Hotel in Tallin under the impression that it was a 5-star hotel. The hotel is very well located in Tallin's old town, but I do not think it deserves 5 stars.

On the one hand, the staff, although very helpful and willing to solve problems, was either too young and/or too little trained to actually offer a 5-star service. I don't think any of them was over 30 and the way they interacted with customers showed a lot of good will but little knowledge of top hotel customer service. I appreciated their efforts, but I felt it was not quite enough.

On the other hand, the premises were not up to a 5-star standard: rooms were smallish (but it did have an LCD TV), no gym available and (expected in a country like Estonia) no sauna either. The air conditioning blows straight on the bed, and it seems the only way to turn it off is to turn it off in all the rooms... Upon arrival the safe was not working, so we changed to a different room... where it didn't work either (it was eventually fixed). I couldn't find a way of showering without flooding the bathroom floor.

So, in summary, great location, good staff attitude, but not so good staff training or premises. If I go back to Tallin I'll try a different hotel.

I stayed at this brand new (opened this season) hotel in the end of June 2006. I got a room on the top floor (6th), which only seemed to have two rooms. This is not a big hotel, to its benefit. The atmosphere is really good. The elevator, really small and slow, only goes to the fifth floor, so the last stairs up to floor six had to be climbed. Every floor is locked, so you have to have a room card to enter both the floor and your room. Secure.

The rooms are of average good size, really tasty and bright, and this also goes for the bathroom. A lot of tiles and granite in the bathroom, imitated stucco and "medieval/modern" style in the main room. I liked it really well. The beds and linen are good, a flat screen TV up on the wall, and big closets for your clothes. You will find a safe for your valuables here. Quite unusual with a free minibar.

A couple of minor "bugs": The water _will_ end up on the bathroom floor when you take a shower, no matter what you do to prevent this. They will have to fix this sooner or later... The drying rack used for hanging your wet towels on, fell down from our wall, as a result of the screws in the wall not being of the right kind for a gypsum wall. But the helpful lady in the reception smiled and said "thank you for letting us know" when we told them at our departure - hopefully it is fixed by now.

The breakfast is served in a really tasteful restaurant, and the food itself is quite good. The hotel also has a very nice bar. If there is one thing this hotel deserves commendation for, it's the service. They will help you with everything, and always with both high spirits and a smile.

Conclusion: Apart from a couple of novice errors in the bathroom, I whole-hearted recommend this nice hotel - about one minute walking distance from the heart of the old town in Tallinn.

The hotel is brand new and the staff is trained well. Big rooms with robes and free minibar. If you want something, the hotel easily gets it for you. Breakfast was fine. One thing though, when you shower the water runs everywhere BUT in the tub... Have towels ready!

Excellent hotel!
