“Beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 22 March 2011

Absolutely lovely trip, complimented perfectly by a stunning hotel. Tallinn is a gorgeous city, and I can't wait to go back! Hopefully to stay at the Telegraaf again.

As we were arriving late, we booked the hotel transfer service to take us from the airport - and were greeted by a very pleasant man who took us to the front door of the hotel. Check in was efficient, and our room was beautiful. On the small side, but big enough and with a massive bathroom.

All the small touches were catered for, down to a mini sewing kit and Telegraaf branded comb.

The decor across the hotel was stunning - loved the old style phones everywhere, and all the staff we encountered were very pleasant.

Breakfast in bed was a treat (there is a tray charge for this) and the food was beauitful as well - my partner ordered the cokoed breakfast, which I had pancakes. Both were presented well and delicious. We didn't use the restaurant at all so can't comment on this aside from to say we had a sneaky peek and it was also stunning.

There is a spa in the hotel, and whilst we used the facilities we didn't have any treatments. The pool is small, but as would be expected for a hotel pool. It's located in a greenhouse style part of the building, which has a lovely ambience and was very relaxing.

The Telegraaf is well located, being round the corner from the main tourist square, and close to everything you could want or need.

A lovely stay - didn't want to leave!

The location of this hotel is great – turn right out the front door then right again and you’re on the main square. Once you get your bearings you realise everything’s within a few minutes’ walk. Our room was luxurious, if on the small side. And the pillows, as mentioned by others, are not the comfiest. It would also be good to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The breakfast selection was more than enough however we were only given the made to order menu on the Monday and not on the weekend – not sure if this is the usual practice? The only negative on the breakfast was the tea provided was in a pot without a tea bag which was fine for me, but not great if you like your tea a certain way.

Spa was lovely and we used it every day.

We got the bus from the airport to the hotel and it took about 5 – 10 minutes to walk from the bus stop which was hard work on the icy pavements. So to get back to the airport we asked the hotel to order us a taxi and it only charged 8 Euros which we thought was very reasonable value.

All the staff we dealt with were excellent. Although the hotel has some minor negative points, overall our stay was great and if I ever go back to Tallinn I would hope to stay here again for the central location and high quality of service.

Me and my friends where visiting this hotel from 17 march - 21 march now in 2011. The hotel was good looking and very exclusive, but the staff acted terrible against me and my friends. The attitude where poor, and the staff where not very service minded. They didn`t smile or say hello or anything like that and that is not good for a 5 star hotel. We felt we where treated like guests should be.

The housekeeping was not good either. They didn`t take away garbage from the room or clean the room very good.

The location were extremly good, but the staff where terrible.

Would not travel to this place again or recommend it to others.

We have just come back from a 4day stay in Tallinn and can recommend The "Telegraaf hotel"to anyone. It is such a relaxing place with an excellent restaurant on the premises. The relaxing facilities are small but very pleasant. At the time we were there we had the pool almost to ourselves including sauna, hammam and jacuzzi. The service is impeccable and the hotel rooms very well maintained. The hotel situation is as well a top mark for exploring the different parts of the town in all aspects. either for culture or dining out. The staff is very helpfull and very courteous either at the reception, restaurant or leisure facilities. Each room is well equipped and the internet facilities are absolute top. We certainly love to come and stay again and Telegraaf hotel will be our place always. It has kept the charm of an old place with modernism integrated. Well done and keep the welcome. We can only praise the attention we have received.

Everything about the Telgraaf was outstanding. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Our bedroom was quite large with a seating area and everything you would expect from a great hotel. There were also extra touches such as a chocolate on your pillow every night and flowers in the room. The Elemis toiletries added a touch of luxury and there were complimentary bottles of water every day. The rooms were very quiet. We heard absolutely no noise from either outside or from the next door rooms. We used the beautiful swimming pool every day. The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were lovely to relax in after a day sightseeing. We had the facility to ourselves every time. Bathrobes and slippers are provided in the rooms which makes it easy to nip down to the pool.. We did not have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant, but the breakfast was great. Plenty of variety. The pancakes and egg benedict were delicious.
The location could not be better as it is only about 50metres from the square. There are so many lovely restaurants very nearby. We really liked the gastropub called Claymills (just past the entrance to Molly Malone's) and the restaurant called Kuldse Notsa Korts (off the square on the way to toompea). Both served delicious but very reasonably priced food.

Hotel Telegraaf is in the center of Tallinn old town, just around the corner of town square..
Well decorated, intimate, with nice staff.
Great spa with inside pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and hot bath and other treatments. The access is made from 2nd floor and you’ll need to use the stairs to go there. Use your room bathrobe to the spa.
Plus: rooms, nice and cozy, but a little small for a 5 stars hotel (perhaps due to this has an old office building), good bed, very good amenities, spa, location (superb!)
For a 5 stars hotel, I was expecting a little more like:
- pillow menu: just two options, neither is great!
- a concierge at the door, helping you on the arrival and departure;
- a better breakfast: although it has international and English breakfast, doesn’t have: natural orange juice, fresh fruit (different kind).
To resume, due to quality/price and location, I recommend this hotel!
