Excellent hotel ! Worth its five stars. Stayed in a room in the older part of the hotel. Clean, spacious rooms with lots of atmosphere, while still having modern standards. Big bed with comfortable sheets. Breakfast in the fantastic Tchaikovsky restaurant (be sure to also have your dinner here!) was very good and varied.

I ve been staying in Telegraaf falmost on a monthly basis from 4-10 nights since January 2010. The main advantage of this hotel is the very welcoming staff. It has a perfect spot in the old town, within a 5 min walk from the main town square. Yet it is very quiet!
Rooms are comfortable especially the ones on the new wing. Breakfast is rich and the terrace is really beautiful in the summer. In winter one can enjoy a drink by the fire place when the room is not engaged for some seminar.
The down side is that there is no lounge and the bar is rathe small basically is an extension of the reception. Also for long staying guests it would be nice to have a gym or at least a treadmill.
Spa services are also good although the pool is rather small.
Overall one can have an excellent stay for a few days or longer and be welcomed by really nice staff!

Room Tip: Rooms on the new wing of the hotel are more comfortable.

I enjoyed the excellent confort, care for every detail and varm welcome by the personnel. Breakfast in the internal garden in the hearth of the old town is a must. I recommend it both for private and business trips.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay here. The hotel is in the old town and close to everything. We arrived by car, and they took it away and parked it for us. It is a little hard to find by car, so do your homework well before hitting Tallinn

It is the sort of place that turns back your bed at night, puts a couple of little mats down, leaves a chocolate and a bottle of water should you need either at night!

The breakfast which was included was first class, and the hot food was cooked to order.

There is a computer in the lounge with free internet connection.

Everything in the old town is in easy walking distance. In short, if in Tallinn, then why not stay here?

The only negative point I had was that they "lost" our car. The porter who parked it could not be contacted the day we left, and it took half an hour for the car to be found.

Just returned from a 4 night break staying at the Hotel Telegraaf in Tallin. Had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the hotel and the location.

The Hotel
We booked a superior room and found that although it was fairly small, it was very well equipped and had lots of character. Our room looked out onto the main street. We had two sets of large windows, which we enjoyed opening and listening to the people in the restaurants below and hearing the church bells. However, when the windows were closed the sounds were totally blocked out and the room was very peaceful. No noise from neighbouring rooms, or the floor above.

The bathroom did not have a window and so lacked natural light, but was again well presented with underfloor heating.

The bed was Kingsized and very comfy, but strangely had single duvets and we would have preferred one duvet, rather than the two. Didn't get much sleep the first night as found pillows on bed very uncomfortable and the temperature of the room was too warm. However, the following day, we asked for different pillows from the 'Pillow menu', which were more compfortable and ensured that we turned the air-conditioning on. No problems sleeping for the rest of our stay.

The beds were turned down each day and a chocolate left on pillow. Bottles of complimentary water left by the bed.

Couldn't fault the staff. They were all very polite and helpful. Reception checked us in quickly and offered to take our cases up to our room. We appeared to be the youngest couple staying at the hotel (30 years old) but found that the staff treated us equally (not something that always happens when you appear younger than many guests). A mix of nationalities are found staying at the hotel, but all the staff speak English well.

We found a good range of choice at breakfast. A hot and cold buffet selection offering things such as: sausages, bacon, tomatoes, smoked salmon, cold meats and cheese, breads, pastries and fresh fruit. There was also a cooked menu choice with things such as pancakes and various styles of egg. The staff were again very polite and always wished us an enjoyable day before we left.

We had a meal in the restaurant. Very expensive cost us 120 euro for the two of us to have two courses, with a glass of wine, a glass of champagne and a cocktail each. But we felt it was well worth the treat. The food was presented excellently and again the service was excellent, with our waitress even continuing to serve us drinks in the courtyard outside after we had finished eating.

The only things we felt let the hotel down were some of the little touches - such as nice towels in the bathroom and the size of our room. But overall a lovely place.

Tallinn
Tallinn itself is beautiful - although very expensive - particularly the food.

We didn't go on any set tours, but spent our time wandering around the city at our own pace. The hotel is ideally situated. Literally just around the corner (1 min walk) from the main town square. It is an ideal base for popping back to throughout the day.

We found the food and drink very pricey. There are a huge number of restaurants and bars around, but the average main course costs between 12 and 20 euro. Beer is about 3 euro and soft drinks around 1.5-2 euro. In the day time we saved money by going to the Rimi supermarket (about 10 min walk towards the port) and getting bread and ham and drinks for around 4 euro.

In the evening each restaurant has it's own waiter who stands outside and tries to get you to come in. We found this a but irritating as you couldn't read the menu or look at the prices before they punced on you and that put us off of a lot of places. Our tip is to look around in the daytime to find the restaurant you want to go to in the evening, when there are less people trying to pounce on you!

The nice restaurants we found were around the main square. Choice of Italian, Indian and Estonian. We tried to stick with local dishes and so stayed away from Italians, but was a good choice available if you did want pizza or pasta. We enjoyed eating at The Garlic restaurant beautiful food Little more pricey than other restaurants around it, but well worth it and the character of the inside is great.

The cobbled streets around Tallinn make it great for walking around as there are few cars in the city. Have to watch some of the surfaces though as they are v uneven and drains across the pavements and ideal for tripping over! Wouldn't imagine would be a great place for someone in a wheelchair or not very steady on their feet.

Overall, we have had a great time in Tallinn and at the hotel Telegraaf!

Room Tip: Try pillows out before going to bed on first night and ask for a change if unsuitable!

What a wonderful stay at this beautiful converted hotel.
The cobbled streets as you arrive at Hotel Telegraaf give it that special feeling followed by the genuinely happy staff behind the reception desk.
Room fittings are first class and most importantly for travelllers deciding where to stay, the beds are super comfortable and in a quiet location.
The stylish surroundings include the beautiful Tchaikovsky restaurant : beautiful surroundings, beautiful food and impressively reasonable price.
This hotel is great value for money...five star surroundings and five star service in one of the world's best travel destinations in Tallinn.
I really enjoyed wandering from the Tchaikovsky restaurant out to the walled courtyard with brilliant flowers under the blue sky. Happy family groups were here and if you peeked out of the walled courtyard door, you could see up the narrowed cobbles treet where more adventure awaited.
Thanks to hotel management and staff at Hotel Telegraaf for giving me one of life's memorable holidays.

Room Tip: All rooms seem well located in this boutique hotel.
