We stayed three nights in this wonderful hotel. The rooms are very lovely and the beds are incredibly comfortable. This boutique style hotel has great service and is located in a perfect position in the old town. The restaurant was amazing (I'll rate it separately). Breakfast was really good. Highly recommend this hotel.

My mum and me stayed at the Hotel Telegraaf for three nights late August 2012. We had a nice room at the first floor, overlooking the street in front of the hotel. The hotel is modern and stylish decorated, but with some nice touches and details fitting it´s location and history. Comfortable bed, a pair of big large chairs, a desk, and a fairly large wardrobe with a small safety deposit box. There was also a minibar, and a flatscreen TV. I appreciated the electrical sockets next to the bed (on both sides) and by the desk - very convenient when you need to have something on charge (I have stayed at hotels where I needed to move the bed to find a socket I could use for my phone, so now I notice these little details). Bathroom was decent with a tub/shower, and everything was clean and tidy.
What I did miss, however, was the possibility to have the window open during the night - the double windows and the shutters instead of curtains made it only possible to have a small glitch open. Staff was service minded and helpful.
The restaurant was elegant - we only had breakfast there, which had a variety of some warm dishes, yoghurts, breads and such. Not the biggest buffet, but you could order a variety of egg-dishes as well. I liked the touch of getting tea and coffee in small porcelain pots - gives you that little extra feel of luxury. The same did the complimentary water bottle and little chocolate we got every evening.
The hotel has a SPA (Elemis), a small pool and a whirlpool. And I mean a small pool - it was hard for two people to swim at the same time, as it is quite narrow.
Location is excellent - barely five minutes walk to the square or the main entrance to the Old Town, a 10-15 minutes walk to a big shopping center and the new fashionable area Rotermanni.
So, if you fancy a touch of luxury and elegance on your stay, I wouldn´t doubt staying at the Hotel Telegraaf.

Was there for a couple of days in August. Right in the centre of the old town, a comfortable hotel with a classy restaurant and extremely helpful staff. The facade is traditional but inside is a very modern hotel. The Tchaikovsky restaurant is an absolute treat with a cute garden area. Would highly recommend.

Very well situated in the heart of the Old Town. I stayed in a room in the old wing, and it was very good. The room was quite large with enough space for two easy chairs, table and desk without it feeling at all crowded. The bath was very large with an overhead drench shower - it would have been good to have had a shower with an adjustable jet. There were spacious wardrobes, a safe and a full length mirror in the room. There were a few English channels on the TV and options to watch English language films. There was also a minibar and snacks. Complimentary water and a fruit bowl was left in the room. There was also the option to request different pillows.

If I have a criticism it is the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a €9 service charge on top of the cost of a cup if you wanted it in the room. I thought that was very odd in a hotel of this standard. There was an explanatory note in the room that some licensing rule prohibited this because of the antiquity of the building, however some other arrangements could surely be made?

There is an Elemis spa in the hotel but I didn't have any treatments although I love Elemis products. The hotel has complementary Elemis shampoo, soap etc in the bathrooms which is a really nice touch. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were a bit tired looking and probably due a refurb. The hotel restaurant is first class and I have given that a separate review here. There was heaps of choice at breakfast, standard English bacon and eggs, or you could order eggs benedict etc, and there were Baltic / Nordic choices too such as smoked fish or rollmops

All in all a lovely hotel and I am already planning a return journey!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard, better view

Modern luxury behind a traditional facade in a fairy old town .Perfect location a mere 5 min walk from square .The staff was very friendly and courteous .Overall one of the best hotels to stay.It is well maintained place .Lovely warm breakfast but a suggestion to them need more varieties for vegetarians .

Room Tip: 5 floor rooms ideal.
