I stayed for 4 nights, and yes it's very much a party hostel but what you are going to get is a group of friends by the time you leave.

The hostel staff are awesome and always try to get everybody involved and interacting, which being a solo traveler is perfect.

They cook meals for 3 euros and also have a free pub crawl, so this place is all about socialising, but do plan for a day or two recovery after leaving this place!

I just want to give a fair review for this, and say that reading the other reviews that are all positive that maybe we came at a bad time. But we just want to warn that maybe certain personalities don't mesh well with the atmosphere here.
This is coming from 2 girls in their early 20s.

Ok, I'll start with what was good with the hostel.
-The people working at the desk and organizing stuff are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. Anytime we wanted to do something we asked them and they gave us dozens of options. When we mentioned we weren't having the best time they did their best to fix it, and when we said we just needed to get out they helped us book another hostel for the rest of our stay and gladly returned the money for the leftover days of our stay. Absolutely top notch staff.
-Overall a really fun crowd. The location of the hostel is great, we met some great people there and had a lot of fun.
-The tours they put on are really excellent.

The Cons
-The beds are not the most comfortable, but when staying at a budget hostel I'm not expecting too much either.
-We were the only 2 girls staying at the hostel, and at that time it was completely full. So we were always surrounded by men. It wasn't too uncomfortable when everyone was (more or less) sober, but when the drinking started it was a fight to keep them respectable. I did not feel the most safe sleeping there some nights.
-Having a room that was hot, and filled with us 2 girls and 6 men, the room got especially smelly. Like sports-bag sweaty man smelly. To top it off, we were in the top floor room, and the bathroom had an odor just permeating it. It wasn't pleasant. Possibly drunk guys using the jacuzzi/ shower as a urinal when they came back after drinking. Everytime someone opened the door to the bathroom I gagged.
-We had one particular guest that not only pretty much ripped the toilet off the wall, but vomited ALL over the bathroom. Then later in the night proceeded to pee on the wall right by the beds. We informed the night staff, and he was understanding came into our room and mopped everything up right away. I know this isn't an actual reflection of the hostel as a whole, but just one bad guest. But in a party hostel like this, its bound to happen.

We partied with them for a few nights, had a good time, enjoyed their tours. But eventually decided that we wanted somewhere a bit cleaner/less smelly, to get away from all the boys, and just have a time to recover. As I said, when we needed to get away, 3 different staff asked us what's wrong, and if they can fix it, but I just think that the hostel wasn't a good fit for the personality of me and my friend. So they helped us on our way.

If you didn't want to read all that to sum it up: Excellent hostel and customer service, but be a little wary if you are not a heavy partyer there is probably a better place. Maybe just stay for a night or two and then move along like we did.

Great location, very clean - no shoe policy helps with this. Staff were also great, very happy to help with recommendations. Be warned that there's only one combined bathroom/shower room so you may have to be patient with this. And be careful if you are attending Wizard Wednesday if you have a weak stomach...

Room Tip: Pay a Euro more for an ensuite room

Tallinn Backpackers is the best thing in Tallinn! It is located in the picturesque Old Town. The hostel is super clean and hostel, the staff is awesome, very helpful. It is a great place to meet cool people and have a lot-lot-lot of fun. The bar is full of tasty Estonian beer which costs only 1 Euro! What else... Yes! there are some funny rules in the hostel which you will be presented at check in! And the pub crawls,,,so good, so good. I strongly recommend to stay there and you will have an unforgetable time in Tallinn. Have fun!!!!

I'll start with the usual. Great location, a 5 minute walk of the the old town; incredibly clean and well maintained, friendly and helpful staff and best of all, nice and cheap.
What can i say about the time i had? It was amazing. I stayed here with 3 other friends with the intention of getting a bit drunk and Tallinn Backpackers did not let us down. There's a bar within the common area which had a nice selection of beers and ciders at reasonable prices; not to mention half price drinks during happy hour. The staff encourages everyone to have a great time and get involved, leading the heavy drinking sessions with an array of drinking games. There is also a heavy emphasis on a social environment which is reinforced by a list of "rules". You immediately agree to adhere to the rules by reading them and any defiance is met with a forfeit. My particular favourites were the 'no Facebook after 7.30' rule and the 'no use of the word "mine"(in the possessive context) rule. The forfeit for the latter being 10 push ups with a clap out and a breach of the former would mean having to drink a "dirty" shot, the bin being placed conveniently for this one.
The staff organise a pub crawl every night and show you around the best bars in town. Wednesdays are "Wizard Wednesdays" where you try to drink your own height in beer cans to create a sort of wizard staff. This was moved to Tuesday just for my group as we were due to leave on Wednesday.

We stayed in a shared room with 8 beds. The beds were clean and comfortable, with fresh sheets and a duvet. A locker is also provided for you but we felt no need to use them. The bathroom had a shower, a hot tub/jacuzzi type thing and a sauna!
For just 3 euros you could sign up for a meal prepared by the hostel staff, which had a mixed reception but I quite liked the food. If you didn't fancy it, you could buy food from the supermarket down the road and the staff had no problem with you using the kitchen facilities to prepare it.
The days were generally spent recovering in front of their projector screen, watching movies and having a chat.

I would recommend this hostel for anyone looking to meet new people and have a great time. Some people didn't seem to get this but that's their problem, not the hostels.
I would have to say this is the best hostel i have stayed in anywhere. If i have said that in previous reviews then this has easily overtaken that.

I recommend taking a walk in to the old town and trying the elk soup in one of the medieval places; really nice and hearty food.

Room Tip: If you're in Tallinn just for sightseeing and are looking for a quiet nights sleep, this is prob...
