We arrived for our 2nd stay at the St Olav (see last review). On arrival we were told there had been a flood in our rooms and we had to go to the St Olevi (?) instead, which was not as nice as the St Olav. While we were being told this a huge group of German tourists turned up, checked in and were being shown to their rooms. Our colleague who arrived the next day checked into the St Olav without any problems or mention of the flood. We all strongly suspect that there was no flood and that they had just overbooked with the German bus tour and bumped us out into the lesser St Olevi.

Stayed first week of April. Lovely hotel, recently renovated so up to date bathroom and decorations. Room a bit small, but we got really cheap rate from Hotel Pronto so no complaints about that. Didn't find it at all noisy (3rd floor). As stated before, excellent breakfast and really central - very close to main square. Lovely antique furniture and chandaliers scattered about the corridors and dining room. Wireless internet in all rooms.

We stayed in this hotel at the end of March and absolutely loved it!

Pros:
Location- center to the city
Helpful staff- multiple languages
Full breakfast (sausages, roasted veggies, potatoes, 2 types of eggs, pickled things, salads, yogurt and deserts)
Unique hotel feel- boutique style-old time charm while still clean and modern
Controls for heat and bathroom floor
Relaxation room and courtyard
Quality bar on hotel premises
VERY safe

Cons:
Thin walls- didnt disturb us much, but if someone is a light sleeper, I would recommend ear plugs

have recently returned from a short break to Tallin, the hotel was in an absolutly perfect location right by the old town square and a short walk to all the other attractions and night life.

room was fine small and cosy, the only gripe I would have is that there is a horrible smell when you are walking up the stairs to the rooms and in the corridor outside the room, whether this was due to the age of the building or the damp weather I don't know, but it didn't smell in the room and that was really my only problem.

Breakfast was great, good selection.

Tallin itself was loverly a great place to visit not to big or too small loads to see and do, plently of bars and resturants to eat and drink at. had a fab time and would definatly come again.

Excellent hotel. Really great location and clean tidy and cute rooms. We stayed on the fourth floor, it's a bit confusing up the narrow staircases but understandable given the age of the hotel. Service was great, and the breakfast in the morning was typically European. Excellent Wifi - really fast and the unit was even in our room. Called a taxi for us on departure with no problems. We arrived at 1pm and we did have to return an hour later to get our room. I think it was understandable due to an influx of weekend breakers arriving on a Saturday morning. Also, a bit of a strange smell at reception - I think it's a mixture of restaurant and cleaning products - but it doesn't continue beyond that room.

Just got back from a stay at this hotel (21-23 Feb) and it was lovely. Location was literally 2 mins around the corner from the main old town square and just down the hill from the Toompea castle area. It was set in a lovely old building and I loved the medieval decor of the place. Felt really fitting given where its at. Loads of old pictures and mirrors throughout every corridor. The reception was great, all beautiful, friendly, helpful and spoke better English than most English people (although be-it with a cheesy American accent but this seemed to be all of the young population of Estonia). Had a lovely room on the 4th floor, which was a welcome war retreat from the -26 killer temperatures it was outside (I would definitely recommend going in warmer months!) Free wifi throughout the hotel on every floor and worked brilliantly. Breakfast was ample (cereals, cold meats and cheese, hot dog sausages, baked or boiled potatoes, rice and egg) and Tallinn itself really is a lovely medieval town, easy to navigate around and some great sights to see. And this is definitely a great base to do that from. Would stay here again for sure. Oh absolutely.

We (me, my wife and our adult daughter) stayed here in mid-February. We booked a triple room through Expedia and on arrival were allocated a nice room (No 122) with two twins (this is normal in Europe) and a comfortable (but a little bit squeaky) sofa bed. Although the hotel was busy during our stay the room was really quiet. No street noise whatsoever.

Outside temp during the day was -16C but the room and hotel was lovely warm and cosy. As well as a fully adjustable radiator (we turned it down while sleeping) the room has underfloor heating. The shower cubicle is fine and big, but the water ran hot OR cold, never at a nice warm temp for more than a few seconds (it really needs a self-regulating mixer fitted). It became a bit tiresome after a few days. One small downside - there is a mini-bar in the room, but no tea/coffee making facility.

Breakfast in the elegant dining room was OK, but it was the same food each day and often there was not enough seating for the guests. The food is typical European fare, cold meats, some hot dishes, salads, cereals, a nice selection of breads and cakes, tea, coffee juices.

Reception and porterage staff were efficient, cheerful and happy. There was no problem (for a small fee) to extend our stay after the official check-out time for 6 hours.

In room WiFi access is excellent and fast. There are a public access computers in the various lounge areas.

This is a very old building (15th-16th Cent in parts) and has been altered and added to over the years. There's lots of wandering corridors and curving staircases, but this makes it all the more interesting.

We Highly Recommend St Olav's Hotel, Tallinn
