“In the heart of Old Tallinn”
Reviewed 7 November 2010

Weekend held in Tallinn. Lived at St Olav. Standart room booked at £ 35.91 per night. Pleased with the hotel location in the heart of Old Town, on the street Lai. Number is not very large, in addition to one large bed, there was a wardrobe, TV, safe. Is very clean, the bathroom has everything you need: hair dryer, soap, shower gel. Also has free wireless Internet. It is worth noting not very good soundproofing the building, the neighbors behind the wall are well heard. However, the disadvantages are compensated atmosphere and décor. Pleased breakfasts, hearty, delicious meals. The evening can be held in Lounge Bar, which can be reached from the lobby. Nice atmosphere and staff, played DJ. Good budget hotel, I recommend it to a stop on the weekend.

While St Olav itself breathes of history what makes this hotel even more special is the fabulous location and price offering. I was surprised to get a hotel in sub 75 Euro category located in the old town area famous for its charming architecture and the cobbled streets. All the museums and the port are within short walking distance. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here in a group of 6 chaps. Perhaps this is why we were put on the top (4th) floor where if anyone else was staying there I did not see them. Rooms I saw were all fine and the mini bar was reasonably priced. No noise to disturb my sleep although rooms at the front may get disturbed by the bar with its seats on the roadside. This bar had the best kept beer we tasted and again reasonably priced, also the manager here was a good guy. Hotel well placed to get about the old town and to the port, less than 15 mins to the airport at about £7. BBC Worldwide amongst plenty of TV and internet access available. If I was going back to Tallinn I would be happy to stay here again.

It is a very lovely hotel, with nice halls and decorations. The hotel's location is great. It is right in the old city and not far from the railway station.
What I especially liked there was a breakfast room: so light, nice pictures on the walls, pleasant music.
But there was a little disappointment though. We booked a standard room, but the room we got really differed from the one in pictures. It was very little, and the window faced the roof which was under construction yet, so there were some workers beyond the window and we had to draw the curtains all the time. As a result, it was always dark in the room.
It does not mean that all standard rooms in the hotel are like that one. Just we were not lucky enough to get a better room. And taking into consideration the fact that you visit Tallinn in order to walk around the town and not to sit in the hotel room, then it is the best choice for its money.

As soon as you enter the front door, you are in for a treat. The decor, the maze of corridors and then finally the rooms. I made the husband leave his rubbish outside the room whilst I took photos in it's pristine condition. Cosy but not in the small tight room way. Soft beds, Great bedding. Hot showers. Did I mention I want to live there.

Downside: i you have an alergy to stairs, you have a problem. There is NO lift and the chance of getting assistance with your bags is unlikely.

I stayed for two nights in this place. It's clean, very well situated and the breakfast is ok. The interior is somewhat tacky, imitating a medieval castle. The cheap rooms are very small with no air condition and the walls are so thin, that you can clearly hear the conversations next door. Moreover, some rooms have a window towards the backyard (cafe area), which leaves you with the choice to open the window and listen to the noise or close the window and try to sleep in the heat.
