“Beautiful and good location”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Spent 6 nights in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to the Old Town and also to Tallinn University where I was attending a conference. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. The restaurant was beautiful. I was lucky to have a very spacious room. It was clean, neat and pleasant. The toilet is also quite big. However, the wall is translucent. One can view what is happening in it. I will not stay with people whom I am not familiar with. There is a nice pool, sauna and gym at the level I was staying. The hotel lobby is nicely decorated. It was overall a pleasant experience for me.

Dear Debora Tan,

Thank you for your kind words describing the hotel facilities and the service you received during your stay. We are aware that some guest do not like the half-transparent glass wall between the room and bathroom and therefore we have covered the walls of many rooms with non-transparent film. However there are several guests who like our design and that is why part of the rooms have still half-transparent walls. We kindly ask you and other guest when making a booking for you next stay to as for the the room with less transparent wall. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and we hope to welcome you back to the Nordic Hotel Forum in the near future.

- Like most hotels this one has different levels of comfort and size. The first Standard Double room we were assigned was so small that it was more fitting for a single, not a double. Fortunately for us the heat didn't;t work in this room so they moved us to another Standard Double. And guess what, it was much larger. We at least had room to place our two suitcases and still get around. However the heat in that room didn't work either, so they moved us again, to an even large room, where again the heat wasn't working properly. By this time we said "enough, just give us two extra blankets".
- Location-wise the hotel is ideal of Old Town sightseeing. Hotel guests seemed to be a mix of business and tourist travelers.
- The free WiFi available was reliable and high speed, and available throughout the hotel. They even had an internet connected PC in the lobby for guests use.
- The breakfast buffet selection and quality was excellent. It didn't start until 7AM, which could be an issue for early departures.
- The worst aspect of this hotel is its service. When we raised the issue of room temperature, they just tried moving us from room to room.. But that didn't help as the heat did not appear to be working in any room. When we noted that the floor lamp was not working and could they please check the bulb so that we could at least read at night, they said :OK:. But ten hours later they still hadn't done that and "the maintenance man has gone for the day". It seems they had made a art of our ignoring our requests.

Dear Guest BJC from Maryland,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I was pleased to note that you liked our location and the free WiFi was reliable, but naturally disappointed that you felt our service was inconsistent. This an area that we are extremely passionate about and work hard at daily to continuously keep improving. Let me please note that early breakfast is served in the restaurant available every day from 4am for those who have early departure. We do look forward in the hope of being able to welcome you back and delivering to you the professional and friendly customer service levels that so many of our guests have experienced and continue to enjoy at the Nordic Hotel Forum.

Best Regards,

Spent two nights at this hotel. Overall, I really enjoyed staying here.

Positive:
1. Great central location. Across the road from the old town and 20 minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
2. Nice room, comfortable bed.
3. Fantastic health area on the top floor, it had a fantastic view of Talinn. Highly recommended.

Negatives:
1. The breakfast was okay, it could be a bit crowded at the popular times.
2. While the bathroom was lovely it was glass encased which might have issues with privacy.

But in all, the hotel helped me enjoyed my stay in Talinn

I was travelling in a tour party but as a single person staying alone, so I was in a smallish room which was OK for one person but would have been quite small for two.

It was oddly shaped because it was at one edge of the building and would have to conform to the angles of the building at that point. That meant for example the TV was in a location where to watch it from the bed you had to lie down on your left hand side (or sit on the edge of the bed right in front of it).

The problems sleeping were caused by warmth, and noises.

The room was quite warm and the airconditioning system did not cool it much. You could set it to as low as about 16.5 degrees but the room didnt get below 20.5 or 21 degrees except perhaps in the middle of the night but at that point I wasn't going to get up to check the temperate gauge. It seems usual in Baltics and Finland to provide only a duvet and not a top sheet, and it was too hot in the room under the duvet. A single sheet would have been good.

There were two types of noises, both I am sure from inside the building. One was perhaps like an elevator running, except I was a long way from the elevators, and the noise would go for 5-10 minutes and then stop for about the same length of time and then happen again etc. It was not really loud, but it was noticeable when trying to get to sleep.

The other noise was more like a faint tapping, somethings in the mechanics or infrastructure of the building. Not random occassional noise from other people because it would happen for a period of time, then stop for a while, then happen again, like the other noise.

The bathroom was nice except I have noticed that in most hotels in Baltics and Finland a flannel (wash cloth) is not provided. Which seems ironic considering all those countries seem to have a lot of focus on linen and textiles.

Lastly this has been the only hotel I have stayed on during my trip that didn't seem to have cold cut meats as part of the buffet breakfast selection.

My second stay in this hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortably furnished. The bathroom is also quite large and very clean. However, the walls of the bathroom are partially see-trough, so I would not choose this hotel when travelling with someone I don't know well. The selection at the breakfast was good, with lots of warm foods available. Location is excellent in the centre, close to shops, restaurants and the old town. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in Nordic Forum hotel in a standard room and we very happy with the size of the room. The room was clean, spacy and had a lot of light. If you are a smoker, you can have a smoking room, which is very rare these days. There is a safe carage in the hotel which is nice.
The hotel is in top central location, just cross the street right of the hotel and you are in the old town. The are a lot of nice restaurants in the old city to have dinner or a couple of pints.
The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast. It was in the lobby and was not very tasty. I don't know if it is better in the breakfast room. Insist to get your breakfast in the restaurant!!!
