Stayed here in November, overall it was adequate: no Wi-Fi in rooms which was a pain especially as Wi-Fi is everywhere in Tartu. Breakfast was just average buffet. Room was clean, bathroom was modern and bed was comfortable.
Would stay here again

This is a reasonable hotel with nice rooms and a very good location to the Turku Old City (ca. 5 minutes walk). The bathroom is recently decorated and very clean. Easy to find when approaching by car. But, and this is a great but; there is no air condition expect in the reception! As the weather in July was over 30 degrees Celcius, I almost suffocated in my room, especially because the window is unable to open except for a narrow opening. Therefor the sleeping quality is terrible. If the hotel will not or cannot afford air condition, they should at least install some fans in the rooms. The staff at the outdoor restaurant was incredibly rude, very little service minded and in general bad tempered. They were very slow with bringing menus, and did not bother to clean up the tables. This is unacceptable.
The breakfast was however good; great diversity (especially fish) and delicious food.
Everything is really very good, except for the lack of ventilation.

Stayed there 2 nights. Rather unpleasant: a big beehive with mediocre service. After the first night I returned to my room at about 2:30 pm, and the room was not still made up. My room had no wi-fi internet connection (only special "business-class" rooms do, I was told), and the soundproofing was miserable. On the second night, in addition, there was a loud electric buzzing coming from an electric fusebox on the wall (or whatever it was, related to electricity). There was no minibar, and one has to buy bottled water from receptionists. The location is central, by the river, but beware: it is not very safe around the hotel late in the evening.

I just read the (sour) reviews and found them injustified. I stayed there in July 2008, and my experience is that the hotel is just fine. Nice rooms, simple but clean and modern furniture, and the shower is great (hot water and a firm pressure). Make sure you overlook either the city or the market, there are always things to see there. I had to work quite a bit when I was there, so I put the desk in front of the window so i could enjoy the view.

One (big) disadvantage: there are no windows, only tiny airlinlets. When the temperatures rise, this may become uncomfortable and the airco wasn't sufficient. As someone that likes open air, this was the only major drawback of the hotel.

Try using the spa: the massages are very relaxing and quite affordable!

Breakfast was fine every morning, quite a bit of choice between local and continental breakfast. However, as said in earlier reviews, it becomes a bit boring after several days.

Overall: I had a very decent experience, and will certainly return if I will be in Tartu again.

We were initially put off by the reviews about bedbugs and summer heat, but a reasonable all-in-one offer by a Helsinki ferry line and other, more favourable reviews [our experiences were closer to "60degrees" and "surcouf61"] helped us decide. We were not disappointed. We arrived by car, but for bus travellers from Tallinn the position could not be better. Add to that its proximity to the river and a ten-minute leisurely walk to the city centre. The room was adequately furnished - no frills, but just what one needs - and clean, and the breakfasts were generous if somewhat well known by the fifth morning. Our room overlooked the market area, a fascinating view early in the day. One novelty: the room numbers are in the corridor carpets, not on the doors! We had other meals than simply breakfast there, and the cuisine, as amply testified by your French reviewer, was very good. The personnel at the reception tended to be dour and matter-of-fact, but that is common on both sides of the Baltic and does not signify unfriendliness. All in all, a memorable stay.
