Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel
Ranked #5 of 112 Hotels in Riga
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 31 October 2009

This hotel is fine but it is too far away from the centre of things in the old town though technically it is in the old town. The further out you go the hairier things get in Riga so I would opt to be right in the centre.

This hotel is perfectly fine in other respects--however, the bathroom has a weird frosted glass door and you can hear people going to the loo...

I had initially booked into an apartment with myrigaapartments. Was left stranded in a bad part of town with nowhere to go as they gave the wrong address. Used the same people to get an apartment in Tallinn and it was the most disgusting 3rd world place I had ever been run by a hard russian couple who tried to intimidate me. Stick to the beaten track in Riga and Tallinn and be careful. Central respected hotels are the way to go!!!

Spent three nights at the Elizabete thanks to my credit card points. Really beautifully designed hotel, though I do echo other commenters in saying the bathrooms don't leave much privacy! Our window overlooked the park we had part of the facade design as part of our window. Our rate didn't include breakfast, so I can't comment on that -- the 15 Euro it would have cost seemed way too high for us, so we had breakfast every morning at a different neighborhood cafe. Try one called Osiris! The location was great, great access to old town a short walk through the flower market, and also beautiful new town, with its art nouveau buildings all around.

Oh -- one complaint. I used the sauna, which was great -- but the changing area was in full view of a door that was only partially frosted. Meaning, anyone walking past the door to the gym who happened to look at the door, could see straight through to you changing. Was this meant to be provocative and stylish? I just felt uncomfortable.

I have'nt got a bad word to say about this Hotel, the staff were super friendly, specially Olga in reception, very attentive and always willing to help, but then again everyone was ! The rooms were very clean, and the bed comfortable with a good size bathroom, breakfast was of a very good standard with a big choice... The location was excellent with the added bonus that the sister hotel was only up the road, where the famous SkyBar is located...if your looking for somewhere to enjoy a drink then you could do worse, the views are breathtaking and the crowd is very eccletic.... I also went to the amber club which is in the same location and had an excellent night out !! With regards to Riga i did a little sightseeing, but I avoided the old town altogether considering that the reviews were sooooo bad, i thought better be safe than sorry !! Having said that every single person i met in Riga was very kind indeed, so i don't quite undersatnd the bad reviews !!!! The only down side to the trip was that there seems to be a lot of guys called Tore stumbling around in a drunken stupor, man handling the local girls, which was not too nice to see !! but hey nothings perfect !!! In a nutshell, this hotel is top and so is Riga !!

This hotel is situated exactly where you would want a hotel: in the center of the new city and 7-10 minutes walk from the old city. If you choose to walk though the flower market to the old city the walk takes no time at all because the intoxicating smell of the flowers make you forget that you are walking.
The hotel could not be any more modern than it is: rooms are black white and red. Clean lines to the point that you have to touch everything to know whether it is a wall or a cupboard. The shower area is behind a glass wall. However all this beauty comes with a price: it is damn impractical. Showering whitout getting the floor wet is impossible, toothpaste is left in the sink and drying your hair without having your things fall to the floor is also difficult. But then, being a guest in the hotel I am not the one who has to clean. Rooms are big and comfortable and if you are allergic there is a bonus in the fact that there is no carpet but rather a wooden floor.
Breakfast was great: salmon and swedish herring, all kinds of bread, big choice of fruit, vegetables, eggs and sausages and the usual fried stuff: you can also order any kind of fried eggs. In short: there is something for everybody and there is no way you are going to go hungry. Since we had to leave early on the last morning, we found that they had another little sweet touch: from 4.30 in the morning there is coffee and cake in the bar. It also includes fruits and drinks and even a take out bag with a ready made sandwich. How nice and considerate. There are always taxis standing outside the hotel so we arrived to the airport in 20 minutes.
Only one bad point to be mentioned: the website of the hotel says that there is free WIFI all over the hotel and this is not correct. The laptop did not work on the 8th floor -not even after we had told them several times. It did not even work all over the lobby. If you do not mind sitting in the bar or the dining room with your laptop-then this is defininitely the hotel for you.
There were some very noisy guests (Germans) during the weekend but of course the hotel cannot be blamed for that.

A real pearl! We couldn't find anything to complain over the 4 rooms we had. The staff was very friendly and professional at the counter, the rooms were very clean and a great breakfast was served in the morning. It is situated less than 10 minutes walk to Old Town and it is on a street with almost none traffic. Next door neighbour is a Lido restaurant with local food and a little further up there are lots of restaurants to choose for dinner.

Nice Hotel but a bit pricey. Quick hitters:
Breakfast - very nice, many selections - never boring
Rooms: Clean, great TV, condoms in the mini-bar was a bit weird (a la Vegas)
Parking: in a garage downstairs included! very nice
Beds: very comfortable, you will need the extra comforter in the closet though
Location is OK: not old town, but the walk through the park is worth it, past Freedom square, esplanade - only 10 minute walk
Windowed elevators out to the courtyard
Didn;t try C.U.T., but heard it was OK
