“Clean hotel in a good location”
Reviewed 4 November 2012

This hotel is reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is very good, close enough to the old town but outside the congestion charging zone. They have parking for a couple of cars in the courtyard which, although it is not guarded, is out of sight and probably safe enough if you don't have anything fancy.

The room was OK with a warm, spacious and spotlessly clean bathroom. WiFi worked very well and there were enough power sockets for laptop, phone, etc. There's a minibar you can stock with some good local beer as there are supermarkets within walking distance.

On the not-so-good side: the bed itself was rather basic and not so comfortable. It even felt a little bit damp. And in the room I had the ventilation was noisy and could not be switched off. I had to tape it closed which meant I had to open the window for ventilation. Unfortunately it was raining so the sound of rain falling on metallic roofs and gutters was as bad as the ventilation noise. All in all I slept poorly the two nights I was there.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the vent covered with a luggage tag. Pray it doesn't rain.

What a great hotel with friendly helpful staff. Rooms were lovely and quite functional. The hotel is about 10 minutes walking to the old town. Breakfast service was quite nice, good variety and eggs to order.

Room Tip: The 2 superior rooms (502 & 503) on the 5th floor share a balcony, good for 6 people traveling t...

Small family run hotel located in a courtyard off a main road so traffic is not an issue. Our room was small and the decor was a little dated compared to the main lobby/reception area but we didn't mind as it was spotlessly clean, offered satellite tv, free WiFi, a little balcony and 2 bottles of complimentary water. Breakfast, served between 7am-10am, is included in the price and offers a good varied selection. The bar is open all day and a mini bar is provided in the rooms.

All staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was ever too much. A pc is available to use in front of the reception desk free of charge and we were even able to print our boarding passes. The hotel can arrange an airport transfer for you at a cost of 15 euros which is certainly worth it if you have a very early flight.
At just a 10 minute walk to the centre, Hotel Edvards is certainly a great find and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending this to our friends as a place to stay in Riga.

We had booked the first nights of our baltic trip in Riga Hotel Edvards. Immediately we felt so well servved that we booked more nights for later stays. The hotel is in ideal location, short walk to the city center. Room was comfortable and clean, breakfast excellent (coffee great!). But the most important in the Edvards hotel is the staff - so friendly and warm and always in a way helpful that is much more than you normally get. In this place you can feel a bit like "coming home". Big compliment! We recommend this hotel and certainly will choose it for our next stay.

Small hotel on a good location, comfortable and clean rooms, tasty breakfast, very friendly staff.
No dark curtains and thin walls. It's a bit noisy because you can hear other people talking in their room and on the corridor and also when they enter the room.

Great hotel. Not that expensive. Nice location just outside the busy Old Town but with much nicer restaurants and cafes, I think.
Edvards is not fancy but very clean and newly renovated. The breakfast has what you need. Maybe not that many sausages and bacon, but really, do you need that? The personal seems to make scrambled eggs on request. At least if there are not too many guests.
Have a nice stay!

Cozy small hotel. Good location. 10 min walk from the Old Town. An enormous shopping arcade (8 floors!) only two blocks away. Also the famous Art Noveu block 5 min walk. Our room was quite small but the view (5th floor) was excellent. The white nights would require a more effective blackout curtain, so take a sleep mask with you. Very clean room with nice furniture. 30+ TV channels, however only two in english. No fridge in the room. Breakfast is served in a café corner of the lobby, cozy. The selection is not enormous, but of very good quality. The lightly smoked pork is very delicious. Very helpful and friendly staff. Car park in the hotel yard (you need to pay for that). We could keep our bicycles locked in a storage room.
