“Good hotel in city center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2013

The hotel is rather good, rooms are nice equipped, free internet is working without problems. Good quality of sleeping. Breakfast is rather poor. Location is nice just in the small street at the end of old town so it is good place for sightseeing. They offer parking area additionaly but it is expensive - You can not leave a car directly on a street because it is all pay parking zone.
The food what they serve in the restaurant is aweful although the menu looks really incredible - it seems that the chef cook can not reach the leel required to perform the cuisine.

The hotel is located in the downtown of Riga and all tourist spots are within 5-10 min walking distance. It is a little further from noisy bars and nightclubs so you can expect to sleep well as the street is very quiet. There are couple of abandoned buildings around that are safely covered but the back side of this hotel is unfortunately facing one of them.

The staff was polite and we were happy to check in well before noon on Friday morning. On the last day, the door locker broke, it was opened shortly after by the staff with a electronic door unlocker. We were also told that in case they cannot fix it, we will be given a new room and they will let us know in one hour whether they managed to fix it permanently.

After 5 hours of no contact, we went to ask about if they managed to fix the locker. They said no and that they would not be able to fix the lock, We asked if they would give us a new room and she refused that as they did not have any other triple room. So we asked what then, she suggested that the every time we would need to enter the room a member of the staff would follow us up and open the door (it took up to 5 min, to open with the unlocking, device)

At this point it was obvious that they had no intention to solve this situation. We said that we had an extra reservation for a single room which we booked by mistake and intended to cancel through the hotel reservation website. Only then she agreed to give us a double room and a single room, so we see it as instead of changing the room for us, we had to buy a new extra room. In case we did not have that extra booked room, we would have had to stay in a room with a broken locker. There was no apology or any refund suggested.

We tried single, double and triple rooms in the backside. The triple room was small and there was hardly any place to sit on a chair by the desk. The single room was like a shoe box and it probably was exactly 12 square meters which is a minimal requirement of 4* single rooms according to Latvian hotel standards. The double room we got was a lot bigger with a lot more space in it. Rooms had new and solid decoration, TV, minibar and free wireless internet. Double and triple rooms had a bathtub. Referring to one of the previous comments on this hotel and warning future travelers with children, there is still an open hardcore porn channel on TV which may be locked manually. There were about 15 channels in Latvian, Russian or English. Rooms were very clean.

The breakfast was very nice with wide variety of cold and hot dishes. One could also start their morning with a glass of sparkling wine or vodka shots. We also tried manicure and facial treatment and were extremely satisfied with a result.

All in all, we recommend this room for 1-3 days stay for travelers without children as some of rooms are really small and there is nothing to entertain children in the hotel. The breakfast, the restaurant of the hotel and the location met the expectations, whereas staff could me more service minded and friendlier. Even if it is rated as 4 star hotel, it felt more like good 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: We had the pleasure to try out few types of room. Single room 406, is nothing more then a closet. 31...

Stayed here multiple times. Price was about 45 EUR for a night for a single. Excellent internet connection both ways. Rooms are perfect. You can still hear neighbors, but it is bearable. Rooms have all you might need. From coffee/tea makers with free tea and coffee packages in them. Very clean - every time I stayed there. Reception very friendly and speaks fluent English. Breakfast is very good and they even offer champagne for some reason for breakfast :) Coffee at breakfast is very decent too.Location is right in the Old Town - its about 15 min walk to train station or about 10 min walk to bus station. And if you walk about 300 meters you will get to Bus stop "Ratslaukums" well its right by the river. Take bus 22 and for 70 santims (1 EUR) you will get to the airport very fast. Hotels restaurant is not so good and kind of expensive for quality and value. You better walk about 500 meters to Lido Restaurant in Old Town - superb food and very tasty. Bed very good, good and clean shower with soap and shampoo etc.Safe too, both the hotel and the surrounding. For 12 LS is I remember correctly, if you ask at reception, you can get to the airport. But really nothing can beat the 70 santims (1 EUR) public bus to the Airport - takes about same time like taxi. Again for about 45 EUR this Hotel is a steal! Love it!

Room Tip: Use Bus 22 both from airport to Ratslaukums and back. Just 70 santims (1 EUR). For dinner go to Lido...

Riga always has to offer a special European charm, and this hotel is located in the core of the Old Riga City - best location to explore this beautiful city. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, as in many other hotels in Riga - good service is just part of the culture here. You should not necessarily tip well in order to get the good service - sounds unbelievable, but true. Rooms are very clean in this hotel, and breakfast ... it is so great/tasty/nutritious - creates a great mood, so you have a full day of great experience guaranteed. Love this city, enjoyed stay in this hotel - definitely recommend.

Great location in old town with only few minutes walk from most sights.
Smallest room I have ever lived in, but nice price so perhaps together with location I can`t expect larger,
Nice breakfast with champagne and vodka shots.

Room Tip: Got a room with courtyard view, ask to get city view.

The location of the hotel is a big plus. Within few minutes you reach most recommended destinations. The room was a bit small and the furniture was not in my style (old) but it was fine for the weekend. For the money we paid and the location it was very good.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a standard double room. My one gripe would be the size. It was a tad cosy with a low bed I kept stubbing my foot on. Staff were friendly and efficient - no complaints on that front. The hotel is located on the edge of the old town so there were no noise issues but everything is within easy walking distance. The 22 bus stop is just over the road to the transfer from the airport was a cinch. There is a small bar in the hotel which was more than pleasant. Breakfast - large choice including sparkling wine and vodka shots. Would I stay again - yes, would I recommend yes definitely.

Room Tip: Some rooms don,t have a shower
