“Good hotel”
Reviewed 13 October 2010

Stayed in economy double for 2 nights the room was small but served its purpose as place to sleep and was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is very easy to get to from airport by bus ( 0.70lts). Bus stop across carpark at airport. Get off at first stop after bus turns right after crossing river go through underpass turn right walk 150-200 yards hotel on street on left sign can be seen from road. The staff are helpful and the breakfast good and plentiful. Would stay at this hotel again if back in Riga.

A comfortable value for money hotel located in the touristic old town area of Riga famous for the cobbled streets and charming architecture. More than the hotel it is the location that you admire whilst here. The hotel is no 'Palace' as it offers just about the basic comforts, the staff are helpful - the rooms are a bit tight and dark but clean.

Stayed there for 4 nights in September. It was a great and cheap hotel. I read some positive experiences of this hotel, but still it surprised me – positively. Location couldn’t be better. Surrounding is quiet, but everything is in the walking distance.
I had a single room (room 107). Room was very small, but it was enough for me. In the room there were efficient air condition, minibar, wired internet for free, flat panel tv, safety box, shower and tea making facilities. Ok, room was tiny and there were not a great view from my room windows, but it wasn’t a problem for me. For me the best thing was, that hotel was clean, quiet and safe. The personnel were very friendly and they had a good English skills. The buffet breakfast was tasty.

It was my first time there in Riga and I enjoyed a lot. In many other countries Old Town areas are too crowded. In Riga you had a very relaxing time. Definitely I will go back….

Stayed here for 4 nights in a Superior Room booked via Hotels.com for only £42 per night including breakfast (usual continental meats, eggs, cheese, cereals, fruit, toast & croissants, plenty of everything and from 7.30 - 11 am, which was great if you fancied a lie-in!. Couldn't fault the hotel, or room, spotless, really comfortable queen bed and pillow and superior room had 2 chairs/table, and plenty of space (glanced in other rooms and the standard did look much smaller than superior, so worth the extra. Tea/coffee making facilities, but bring your own tea bags, coffee unless you just like herbal, no milk, so we bought from supermarket (not many around so grab where you can) & kept it in the mini-bar fridge. Rooms pretty thin though & snoring German in next room gave me 3 sleepless nights as he was like a train! Good English spoken by staff but not very friendly, when checking out a nice touch would be to ask if we'd enjoyed our stay & wish us a pleasant journey, but not even a thank you, although she did manage a smile. Latvians don't seem go overboard with the pleasantries, which is a shame, as this is the only thing I'm marking the rating down on. Would have been excellent if staff took the time to smile in dining room, or bar when serving you! Sleep quality also marked down as rooms rather thin when heavy snorers next door, apart from that very good, would recommend. Restaurant was closed end of September. Mini bar prices and bar prices reasonable 1lat for water. Happy hour on cocktails 3 for 7lat! Plenty of historic sites to see in city, which is spotless, as were all restaurants/bars we went in. Nice to see a city with no litter! Prostitutes waiting to pick up a trick in some of the bars we went in, and lots of thick set Russians on the doors of some clubs. Beware if you are single males, as have read "bar scams in Riga" when women sit with you, and you have a drink, the bill comes & it's hundreds of pounds, some have been taken to ATMs as didn't have enough to pay, apparently Police turn a blind eye, can see how there are lots of expensive cars around including many Rolls Royces! Buyer beware!!

The quality of service was better than I have experienced in far more expensive establishments world wide. All the staff were helpful and polite. The room was well presented and spotlessly clean. The only possible extra a guest could ask for is coffee sachets, a selection of types of tea being available bút no coffee or milk.
Situated on the edge of the old town area it is perfectly located for all the local sights.
The breakfast food selection was extensive and of good quality ( confirmed by the number of people going around 4 or more times!!) . The bar lobby prices were actually cheaper than some bars and restaurants in town.

Our room was small but comfortable. Bathroom was pretty big, but there was an unpleasant smell. Don't get me wrong - everything was clean and fresh, but the smell was annoying and the staff couldn't do anything about this (and I think they actually didn't bother because we stayed only one night). The location was great! We had breakfast included and it was great also. Only parking was too expensive.
