Description: A cosy Italian restaurant with an excellent cuisine. It can be found at Pils laukums 4, near a park and opposite to the Riga Castle. This is the quieter part of the Old Town, a great place to hide from the crowd while still in the distance of a two minute slow walk from the Doma Square. The restaurant has a vast terrace with a view on a park and the Riga Castle during the summer. The restaurant has references to the film based on "The Godfather", the famous novel of Mario Puzo. The name of the restaurant is coming from the film too. The restaurant is divided into three relatively separate parts, each of them decorated in a different style. There is a Venice room with a six-seat table, a hall designed according to Sicilian tradition, and Sala Verde with a bar and checked table clothes. The warmth of interior painting together with antique breathing of a house in the Old Town of Riga creates a veritably homey atmosphere filling you up with agreeable peace and anticipation of a meal. And you will not be disappointed for the time spent in anticipation. The food is indeed that of the highest quality, with refined and balanced taste. Moreover, the prices are very reasonable. They have a thoroughly thought-out menu - classic, yet interesting, a menu where everyone, be it a vegetarian or a taste aesthete, can find his or her favourite dish. Seafood soups, pastas made at the restaurant, pizzas, brusquettas, traditional Italian snacks, meat and fish dishes are available there. And the dessert, of course, is an Italian classics - Tiramisu, Panna Cotta and other delights depending on the season. While you are waiting for your ordered meal, a waiter serves freshly baked bread with olives in a small basket. Italian restaurant "Olive Oil Trading Co." is one of the best combinations of location, interior, cuisine, and price that you will find in Riga. It can be most conveniently reached on foot.

“Great Dinner”

Amazing food, Amazing ambiance, Amazing Service! Highly recommend this restaurant. Drinks were good, the homemade bread is everything everyone claims it to be. The gnocchi was the best we have ever had! The seafood soup was very good. The beef tartare was very good too. The desserts were also great! Overall one of the better meals in Riga.

“Un buon ristorante”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

Me and my family visited the Olive Oil during our New Year holidays, our hotel was in a walking distance and we decided to try it for our Friday night dinner. The ambience was lovely, there was a guitarist that night, italian and french songs that he played gave some additional special feeling to our dinner. We ordered bruschettas for starters and dorado for me and tuna steak for my husband as mains. Kids went for pasta carbonara and Margherita. Firstly we were surprised by the freshness and taste of the complementary bread brought to our table right after we placed the orders, apparently homemade, so that was an impressive start! The bruschettas came the same good - fresh and crunchy bread topped with mozzarella and tomatoes. All the mains were very good too and our youngest said he had the best pizza in his life, and he have had a lot of it! :-) All the mentioned plus a couple glasses of wine, soft drinks and a bottle of water cost us slightly less than 70 eur, including tips, so a very good value.

“Friendly and cheerful Italian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2014

Just around the corner from The Grand Palace Hotel this is a cheerful and friendly Italian Restaurant. In the UK it would be described as a Trattoria, in France a Bistro. Large comprehensive menu from basics to more fancy items. Food was good and tasty although I don't think the pannacotta would have passed the test in Italy ! but the rest was nice.
Relaxed place - not too busy on a cold night in December. Cheerful, friendly and efficient service and not rushed at all. Four of us had a good first evening here. Good value for money

“Lovely FRESH pasta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

Despite the restaurant being quiet there was still a good atmosphere. A complimentary warm and fresh bread basket arrived before the stater. Delicious.
We shared a bruschetta to start which was average, no more than that because for some reason the bread was covered in a cheese spread before being topped with tomatoes etc.
I wasn't therefore expecting much from the main courses...I'd ordered fresh pasta with squid in its own ink while my wife went for a Palma ham/rocket pizza. The pasta was a revelation*Thick noodles, homemade, and tasted great. I would happily have eaten the pasta simply drizzled with oil and without the topping it was so good (however, the squid was delicious!) The pizza arrived thin and crisp with a perfect amount of quality topping.
A good wild berry panacotta rounded off a delicious meal. With a bottle of house white and bottled water the bill came to 22 Lats (less than 30 €).
*NB: If you are used to eating over-cooked packet pasta you may disagree....:)

“Excellent food and service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2013

Really enjoyed our meal here. We had a goat's cheese salad to start, a pasta carbonara and a pizza and a bottle of the house wine ( Italian. Can't go wrong if you an oak hater.) Less than £35. Good service and nice atmosphere. My only complaint would be the TV on over the bar which really isn't appropriate in a restaurant, especially as our table was right next to it and it was a bit annoying. A good night in spite.
