“Don Quixote a charm”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Lovely presentation in a wonderful old opera building. Ballet and orchestra shined! Tickets were about $16.00 for first row balcony. Splendid!

“Great value for money”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

I'm not enough of a student of voice to comment on the singing with expertise. But to my ear it was as good as I have heard. It's not a large house which puts everyone close to the action an gives a sense of intimacy. The acoustics were good and the price a bargain compared to a comparable opera in the US.

“Swan lake in Riga Opera house”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

The Opera House is very preserved and classy - like a big Opera Houses in Europe with 3 balconies and sitting boxes all with red and gold..
The ballet was nice with excellent prima ballerina

“Ballet at the Opera House”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

While in Riga, we went to see a performance of the ballet 'Swan Lake' at the Opera House. The opulent surroundings, with beautiful mouldings, decorative gold leaf, huge chandelier and comfortable seating, set the scene. The ballet itself was a feast for the senses. The costumes were rich and colourful and the dancing superb. The Corps de Ballet was excellent; the precision of their movements, perfectly synchronised with the heavenly music. It was out of this world.
