We were visiting Riga with my girlfriend, who is 8 months pregnant. At the same time Riga was celebrating its "Riga days", in essence a number of events happening in the city. The fact we were not aware of when booking, nor did somebody warn us about this when checking in. We asked for a quiet room, we were told we are getting the quietest room. You will not believe how far this was from the truth. Second floor on one of the busiest streets in Riga. But this was not the worst, there was a concert of some sort in the park, the bass did not stop for 5 minutes, ongoing the whole night.
I can appreciate the celebrations is not the hotels fault, but when you see a very pregnant girl walk and and ask about a QUIET room, a little warning would be nice? We would have chosen a different hotel, even in a different part of the city if necessary.

This hotel is situated in the heart of the Riga with a minute walk to old town. National Opera in front of the hotel is very handy if interested in opera. Standard room was spacious, very clean and well ecquipped. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed at the second floor and it was sometimes a bit noisy but slept very well with ear plugs. I...

The hotel is very well located! You can have a stroll in old town, cross the street for opera or walk a bit further for all the cool places. The room was standard, TV tiny, Mini-bar equipped well. It was clean and cosy. We found breakfast a bit disappointing. Breakfast restaurant had great view and there was plenty of choice but omelette was made of ready made mix not real eggs and tea water tasted as coffee, pancakes were hard as a rock.
Overall review: Great location, value is good if you happend to find a deal!

Was staying here this weekend from 4/8 of May.
Room was large bright and clean 609 overview the busy old street and McDonalds. .
Wifi was SLOW and sometimes did not work :-(
TV is a very old 14"? But had a lot of English speaking channels.
No air condition and that will be negative in the summer because of a lot of street noise if Y leave the window open.
This hotel has style old fashion, rooms and beds are great so with 3 improvements it will be a luxury hotel again.
wifi, air condition and a new flat screen of 21" or bigger :-)
And Lobby Bar never seems to be open - but they have a very good restaurant/bar towards McDonalds with outside seating also.

Room Tip: 609 is a good room.

Simply one of the best located hotel in Riga. I used to live here on and off for two years and been traveling here since 2004 & when I saw a deal for this hotel, I did not hesitate in booking it for a 3 day stay. This used to be called the 'Hotel De Rome' (which was 'THE' hotel of it's time), but has now changed it's name which is why there are so few reviews on Tripadvisor.

Good points - Location, spacious rooms, nice bathroom with hand made soaps etc, entrance hall with coat hook & table, safe, iron & ironing board, trouser press, hairdryer, mini-bar, FREE wifi in your room & public spaces, sauna (but they charge), buffet breakfast (but limited), dining / breakfast room on the 7th floor is elegant with superb views.

Bad points - They charge 20 lats for the sauna, buffet breakfast is adequate but nothing special. TV is from the dark ages but gets BBC World news and CNN. No pool

Overall, staff are great and do what they are paid to do. My room was cleaned in a flash everyday, sometimes I would leave at 10am and would nip back by 12 noon & it was already done. I know from past times this would be on average €80-90 per night hotel, but I managed 3 night for under €130, however I was staying in February, which is the quietest time in Riga. I wanted to give this 4 star hotel 5 star Tripadvisor rating but the 20 Lats sauna charge stopped me. Hotel looks great & public areas are well kept. I have great nights sleep and will use again.

Room Tip: Room 307 overlooked the pedestrian thoroughfare to the Old Town rather than the road
