Sato was highly recommended to us by close friends, so we decided to try it out for dinner. Sato's speciality is a modern take on the delicious Uzbekistani cuisine. Based on this single visit, we would not recommend Sato for several reasons. While the service was friendly, we waited 1 hour before our one order of shashlik was served. It was another 30 minutes before one samsa was delivered; the lamb inside needed salt and seasoning, and was subpar. A nearby table of six roudy men waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes for chebureki; they complained loudly to the waitress, and finally left when their food never showed up.
To be fair, the kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed by two large parties on a weekend night. However, this is no reason to provide such a terrible service to the other guests. At the very least, we and other tables should not have been seated for service.
This was highly disappointing. Given other Uzbekistani restaurants in Riga, you would be wise to try those establishments before this one.
