“Great tours, great our guides”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

I was recently in Riga for a few days with a friend and did both the bike and kayak tour through Smile Line.

The bike tour was a great way to see 'the real Riga' and covered everything from the central market, some of the lesser known sights and areas and the many fantastic looking buildings scattered across the city. Our tour guide Tom certainly knew the city, answering our many questions and giving us advice about what to do and see.

I also took a kayak trip (at night) with Tom, which was something I'd never done before. Although slightly nervous about paddling down the centre of the main river heading towards the Baltic Sea, this trip was really good fun, an interesting way to travel other parts of the city and see all the lit up bridge.

I thought both trips were excellent (12-15 Lat), especially as the kayak trip involved transport to and from the area where you get to the boats. The best thing I can say is that it felt more like biking/paddling around with a knowledgable friend than a formal tour so I recommend this to anybody who is reasonably active and likes a bit of adventure.

We loved the first tour so much we actually did two more with Smile Line! Our guides Tom and Ilma were very informative and answered any question we could throw at them. We learnt so much about Riga and the whole country while having fun at the same time! Highly recommend using Smile Line!

“Smile Line tours makes it personal.”

Thanks Tom for a great, informative walk through the Old Town this morning.
Tom has great skills as a tourguide and knows lots of facts about Latvian heritage.
We were lucky to take the tour just the two of us with Tom.
He gave us lots of personal attention and made it a pleasant event for us.
The tour for two costs only Ls 20 and we walked and talked for about 2 hours.
We ended the tour in a a shop with a zipp of Black Balsam. :)
Be aware that the free yellow suitcase tour takes you outside Old Town.

A great tour in the old town. Our guide, Inga, was helpful and answered our every question (a lot) in perfect norwegian. She really helped us understand Riga and Latvian History. Recommended!
