Situated in an ideal location for visiting the middle of the old town of Riga this was a perfectly acceptable Hotel.
Reception was very busy, and we had to wait for quite a while to check in. However the staff impressed greatly by refusing to check in a rude German chap who tried to push in in front of us !
Rooms were a little spartan, but it is a converted convent so I expect this is part of the experience. Some have complained that the rooms could be noisey, we had a room on the top floor and it was very quiet. Being on the top floor of an old building the room had beams running through it and a less alert person could well have brained themselves on them ! The walls were a bit on the thin side - we were next to a nocturnal sexual athlete who had an asthmatic female friend (we think). The free wifi was fast and worked very well. Well done on that one.
We only ate breakfast in the restauranut, but this was perfectly ok. Occasionally had to and hunt down utensils but then again it was busy.
Overall a very reasonable hotel with little to count against it.More
