That is the Grand Palace Hotel- the example of excellence in service, food, purity, design and everything else.
We travel as a couple many times a year and we really enjoyed our 2 times stay at this hotel.
Design is the thing that everyone puts his attention to anyway, even if you are satying in some bed and breakfast. This hotel is absolutely adorable, magnificent with the choice of furniture and design. it could be brighter- yes, but it totally depends on a person who thinks so. The air condition is not new, but we ve got the room with the one, that didnt disturb us, as if he was silent for getting a good review ;)

Atmosphere is very nice, staff friendly and helpfull, good food. The rooms could be better and brighter, the real drawback is noisy air con which makes noise even when it is switched off. Nevertheless, the hotel gas a loit of character and I beleive it is not possible to be located any better! Highly recommended,

Room Tip: No point to choose a suit - you pay more but the room is still small!

Dear Lina S,

Thank you for the review.

I am glad that you liked our hotel’s atmosphere, enjoyed a good food and found our staff friendly.
As for our rooms, we are located in very beautiful historical building dated back to 1877. with tall windows and heavy curtains that sometimes make the room darker.

Thank you for pointing out the issue with the air conditioning. Let me assure you that our technician will do what’s necessary to fix it.

I hope this issue did not spoil the rest of your stay and we all hope to see you with us soon again.

This hotel is a relaxing retreat perched on a side street off the medieval Dome Square. The decoration and standard of the interior is perfectly balanced between the modern and the original. I could not fault the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, the immaculately turned out receptionists, concierge, bar staff, cleaners et al, do this hotel a great credit. I was in Riga for a long weekend starting with a visit to the Riga Arena to see Lana Del Rey; she was entertaining but I left before the very end to make sure I could get a taxi back to town. All in all this hotel and its staff were superb.

Room Tip: If you want a massage, book early (to be fair i was told this when i checked in). It was nice to si...

We were really pleased to stay at this lovely hotel. It has very good location, right in the Old Town. The hotel itself looks luxury, it is real pleasure to be there. Our room was very large and well furnitured. Personel is welcome, and speaks different languages. Breakfast was not various, but it was tasty. I would recomend this hotel for pleasant stay in Riga!

If you prefer to stay in the Old City (and who doesn’t?), this is the obvious up-market choice. The Grand Palace combines old-fashioned decor and values (e.g. efficient, polite and friendly service) with modern facilities (e.g. a computer in each bedroom). We had a deluxe room on the top floor which, though not huge, was the height of elegance. All the usual five-star amenities were there (except for tea/coffee-making facilities which are a rarity in this part of the world), and it was serviced twice a day. Breakfast is exceptional by any standards. In addition to the usual items, there is a magnificent selection of smoked and cured fish, meats and cheeses. A friendly chef will cook eggs to order, and her omelettes are excellent. Freshly-made pancakes are also on offer, and even sparkling wine! During the day, the terrace bar is a great place to relax, as the road is generally quiet, even though you are only two minutes from the cathedral square. In the evenings, the bar is comfortable and welcoming, with a huge drinks menu, and snacks are available till late. The Suite restaurant usually seemed very quiet, probably as there are so many good (and cheaper) dining options nearby, so we gave it a miss. There is a small gym, sauna and steam room (all free) and massage is top quality and not expensive by UK standards. You can also enjoy three types of ‘butler bath’ in your room (don’t ask!). The staff are the hotel’s strongest asset, and seem genuinely keen to make your stay memorable. In short, this hotel is impossible to fault, and thoroughly deserves its reputation.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are worth the extra cost

Excellent place for a quiet few nights. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed each one. Staff were great, particularly Victor who was most helpful from making the reservation to organising transfers to giving us directions. Rooms were very comfortable, restaurant great, good variety and choice for breakfast and a very comfortable bar to end the day.
