Didnt feel like a Radisson. Staff were efficient but made no real effort to be friendly. My room was very small and needed a little decoration. Cleaning staff started banging the doors at 9.30 am - I came in at 4am the night before so complained about this. The rate I got was superb for a 4 star but the hotel felt more like a 3 star (at best) and I paid what I would expect to pay for a 3 star hotel. Id certainly not stay again unless everywhere else was booked. Didnt get a chance to see the gym which I believe is good (and pool?) - but the wireless internet was fast and free which was a plus.

Stayed here for 4 nights. We were lucky to get a really good deal and was upgrated to a business room so can't complain. The room was spacious and nice. Really clean. Big breakfast with a lot of good food.
There was an indoor pool and a fitness centre with a lot of machines. Something for everyone. Big garden, but missed the possibility to use it in combination with the pool.

The hotel was located outside the city centre but not too far to walk (just over the bridge). We walked everyday both in the morning and evening without problems, but did leade to unexplored parts of the city. We tended to stay close to the bridge for a shorter walk home. Depending on the price I would stay here again, but if I get a good deal somewhere else I would try to stay in the old town.

I am writing this review while staying in the hotel - thanks to the free and fast broadband connection. The hotel is decent but the rooms are just average with standard amenities. If you are on the ´right´ side you get a a great view of the river and the city, but if you get the ´wrong´side it is better to simply close the curtains. While I enjoyed the marvelous fitness room and pool, I didn´t feel it as a luxury hotel by any standards. Staff behave ok but can´t describe as warm and welcoming.

Just came back from a 4 day stay at the Radisson SAS Daugava Hotel - it is indeed on the wrong side of the river from the old city - however, the service and the rooms were great, the breakfast was very good and the staff were 100%. Strong recomendation.

you should however remember one import thing - It costs 2.5 Lv (about 5$) for a taxi to the old city. Allways use red taxi's and insist that they put on the meter. if not you will pay double 5 lv (about $10) for a simple trip of 3 min to the old city.

This hotel was disappointing - did not seem to be on the same level as most other Radisson SAS hotels, and does not feel like a 4-star hotel.
Rooms were a good size but need refurbishment. Generally well insulated from sound, but the heating/air con inside the room is very noisy - so much so, that i ended up having to turn it off.
Breakfast - good, with freshly cooked to order eggs/omlettes a nice touch.
Pool and gym - very nice - one of the highlights of my stay here.
Location is not bad - some rooms look out over the river to the old town, but it is a 20min walk to there, and in winter/rain, its not very pleasant!
Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
With a refurbishment, I would definitely go back - not so sure I will stay here again otherwise.

"I'm going to miss that view!"
Direct quote from my wife at breakfast on our last day. The Radisson sits across the Daugava River from old town Riga and the view is beautiful: 2 distinctive bridges and many old church spires dotting the backdrop. It also didn't hurt that we both found the food above average for hotel fare and the breakfast buffet is included in the price of the room.

The hotel was clean, quiet, and, overall, in very good shape. We were there as part of a conference so I'm not sure what the room rate was.

Didn't use the pool or exercise facility so can't comment on that. Our exercise consisted of walking across the bridge to Old Town Riga and exploring the city. BTW, it was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to Old Town.

There is a beautiful park that runs along a canal on the other side of Old Town. We didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked there.

I stayed three nights at the SAS Daugava hotel in early september 2008. The hotel is alright, but not everything you would excpect from a SAS-hotel.

The SAS Daugava has a great location, with a splendid view of the river Daugava and the historic center of Riga. To reach the old town you have to cross the river, which is kilometers walk. A nice and beatiful walk in summer, but it may be a bit cold in winter-time, I would presume.

The hotel itself was a bit disappointing. Not that the hotel itself was bad, I have just come to excpect more from the Radisson SAS chain.

The rooms were small, and was a bit worn down. The hallways were dark, and gave a depressing feeling as you walked to your room.

The lobby area was quite nice, as were the restaurant and bar, But management could have turned down the constantly playing loud music - which were old discotunes. The hotel also has a casino.

To me - the whole experience had an 80s feeling to it.

And to be a be a bit prejudice - it was sort of like Radisson SAS Eastern Europe Style.
