I spent 4 wonderful restful days at the location. It's a quite area of the city only about 20 minutes easy walking to the old town.. Quite rooms , it's a 4 star hotel with the price of a 3 .. Really good value for money ... I recommend the Maritime park , good rest , clean , helpful staff , good breakfasts , has every thing you need for your stay in Riga ...

This Hotel is quite well located, between tram stops, airport bus and a decent walk to the old city. Rooms are a little tired, but quite clean, although the corridors seem to exude an odour reminiscent of the smells of the bad old Soviet days - wonder if it is the disinfectant that they still use. Breakfast adequate, with some Latvian touches. The only disappointment was that on departure trying to pay with Euro Travellers Cheques, I was met with a total ignorance of these by three staff members, and the final excuse was from the Front office manager, that other Maritim hotels might accept them (they do), but Latvia has only had the Euro for six month so therefore they have no knowledge, and do not know what a travellers check is (Riga Airport does not exchange them either). So as long as you have unsafe cash or credit cards, hard to pay. Maybe time for the travellers cheque companies either to fold, or have some educational programs for some of these countries.

Nice hotel for a reasonable price.

Pros:
Very pleasant and helpful staff;
Good breakfast (fresh salmon and champagne for breakfast is not so common elsewhere);
High speed wifi.

Cons:
Walls in the room are like of paper - you hear a TV in a neighbor room;
Incoming housemaid at 9am was quite a surprise (didn't expect her so early).


It is very convenient to take a tram (stop is right near the hotel) to go to the Old Town. Or you can go by foot - it took 25min to go from st. Peter church back to the hotel.
