Travelled to Riga for the festival in August and chose the Maritim Park as it looked good value at around £60 for 2 nights including full breakfast buffet. The hotel is quite easy to find from the City Centre. Having been to Riga before I knew I could get public transport from around Central Market and the No 2,4 and 5 trams pass the front of the Maritim Park Hotel. Tram journey from the City Centre is just 10 minutes although at peak periods the trams can be very busy. The No 22 bus from the Airport stops close to the hotel and if you get off before the city centre at the right spot is only a five minute walk.
The hotel is well situated next to a nice woodland park with some interesting old buildings and churches closeby. It's modern with plenty of parking available and has all the facilities one would expect from a four star establishment. The Maritim Park is a genuine 4 star business hotel. Rooms are bright and spacious with plenty of storage. TV has around 20 channels (4 in English) and wireless Internet is available through Lattelecom for 2LVL per day or 4LVL per week. The hotel has free wireless Internet in the lobby and a free business centre with access to PCs and Internet. Breakfast was all one could have wanted and comprised of a huge well stocked buffet. You have from 6:30-10:30AM to get breakfast and the staff come round and advise when the buffet is being closed. Reception staff were polite and helpful as were the maids who advised me that all public transport was free in Riga the weekend of the festival! Handy! It's only .70LVL from the airport anyway to the Clity and a day ticket for tram, trolly and bus use is just 1.90LVL. The food in the hotel looked very good and reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel. Selected drinks were 2 or the price of one from 6PM to 8PM nightly.
Other facilities include a fine resturant on the 11th floor with a fabulous view of the city, hairdresser and beauty salon, massage and aromatheropy suite and gift shop. The gym is currently being refurbished and was unavailable when i visited.
In summary a highly enjoyable hotel and a good place to enjoy 4 star comfort at a reasonable price.
