This hotel has the perfect location if you are in Riga to explore. The hotel itself has a modern design, efficient and helpful staff, a very good breakfast. The rooms and the bathrooms are big, spacious. Complimentary waterbottles on day of arrival. No noise from the street.
Minuses: one tiny elevator. Must be difficult during busy times. No hooks in the rooms to hang coats, beside the cupboard with few hangers. I think it should not be a problem for the hotel to fix some hooks for coats near the room entrance. In-room coffee-station: coffee and tea are not refilled, it would be proper service to do so.
I had a wonderful stay here.

Stayed 2 nights in this place. I'm pretty sure that this place beats all it's competitors in the price segment. Sure you can find better hotel in the Old City but you will pay two or three times higher price. Hotel Centra is located in the Old City in a walking distance from the railway station and all main attractions. Rooms on the top floor have spectacular view on Old City. Receptionists are very nice and helpfull, breakfast is OK, rooms are clean and pretty standard for 4-stars but little bit dated. Overall I can highly recommend this place. Several advices are bellow:
1. If you are staying on weekend and have a room with windows facing the street you may be disturbed by noise in the midle of the night as couple of bars are located just in front of the hotel. It wasn't a big deal, but if you sensetive for such kind of things - ask for a room with rooms facing the courtyard.
2. There is a very big shopping mall in a 2-minutes walk (Galleria Riga). You can find almost whatever you may need: big supermarket with great choice of food/drinks and local specialities that you can bring home as souvenirs, a book store with travel guides in different languages, cafes and even spa on the top floor. Ask receptionists for the direction.
3. If you are trevelling by car as far as I know you can avoid paying 19 euro per day for the hotel's parking by using parking lot located near the railway station (8 minutes walk). Do not park your car on the street: it most likely will be blocked soon unles you pay about 8 euro per hour. My personal experience was very nice: I found the parking lot located two bloks from the Old City, drop of the luggage from the car in the hotel and then parked the car on the parking lot for 7 euro per 24 hours. The parking lot is easy to find: it's located on the Citadeles iela on the opposite side of huge building of Citadele bank right in front of the Ernst Young office. The parking officers there are very kind and if you will use this parking please say hello to Aldis from Alex if you meet him. It is about 15 minutes walk form this parking lot to the hotel but through the all Old City so it was a pleasure for me.

Room Tip: If you are staying on weekend and have a room with windows facing the street you may be disturbed by...

Great location (everything in old town is within walking distance!), very nice and cozy hotel. Our standard room had tea/coffee making facilities, free drinking water, TV, phone, minibar, wardrobe with a safe, writing desk, heating floor in bathroom and, besides bathroom accesories, an umbrella (!). Wifi is free and quite fast and stable. Our room 406 had three windows facing inner yards, so we didn't have that fabulous view of the old town - but it was quiet during the night!
Breakfast offers free champagne and quite a decent choice of meals.
All in all we considered it a great deal for the money we payed, especially comparing with other hotels nearby and their prices.

Tip - if you want to have the room cleaned you should put the sign on the doorhandle - otherwise the maid will only change towels and make up the bed.

We stayed overnight in Riga on the way back home. If I ever went back to Riga I would definitely stay at Centra again. I loved our rooms. We had two rooms for 3 and one for 2. The triple rooms(I think they were deluxe double rooms) are very spacious and have great bathrooms. The double room are smaller. I loved the decor, very modern, great lighting and good attention to detail. The rooms were spotless.
The staff at reception were very helpful and breakfast was good

Room Tip: The deluxe double rooms are very spacious.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but on our opinion, the hotel is hardly worth that much admiration. The only really impressive thing about it is location. The reception was efficient; they didn’t force us to fill up the usual check-in form. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. So much of the pros. Now for the cons.

-Top location has its drawbacks. During our stay, even -15 C outside did not prevent noise of the old city night life coming from the street. One would guess, in summer it’s not possible to sleep at all.

-The elevator was the most cramped and claustrophobic we’ve ever seen. It was painted bright green too, which made it look more like some auxiliary maintenance elevator. Since it was occupied on our arrival (in the sense of “fish-in-the-tin occupied”) we opted for stairs, but - guess what - stairs also looked more like fire escape route.

-It was rather chilly in the corridors and plain cold in the elevator (yes, we took it eventually).

-The interior (starting from the lobby) was impersonal. Our room didn’t have any pictures on the walls (nr. 205) and the light fixtures in the room looked like they were designed on the coffee break.

-There was only one chair in the room.

-No wine glasses in the room.

-Very inconvenient American type shower head-in-the-wall system.

-King size bed with two separate small blankets.

-There is no restaurant in the hotel, only a bar.

-Breakfast selection and quality was really not something 4* hotel should be proud of. No salmon, no pancakes of any sort, no croissants or pastries (which we are used to have by now in higher-standard Riga hotels). Yogurt - packed and pasteurized, jam from plastic boxes, juice watery. We found it strange that you had to ask for coffee instead of being able to press a button on the coffee machine yourself. But you can help yourself to a glass of champagne though.

You can’t beat the location, true, but otherwise there are plenty hotels in Riga with more character and better quality to choose from.

Room tip:
Turn on the floor heating in the bathroom right on your arrival if you want it to get warm.

For around 50 EUR a night you get a great accommodation.

The hotel is modern and renovated, not huge, but not tiny either. It's in a great location, shops and restaurants around. If you like shopping - there is a smaller mall 3 min walk from the hotel.

Ask for a room away from the main street, and you will have total peace.

Staff was friendly and welcoming.

Room was neat and clean. Watter bottle on arrival for free, otherwise an ok minibar.

Wireless internet worked fine.

Breakfast had plenty of choices.

I would definatelly stay there again.

The only minus was that I felt a bit cold at night, and I couldn't find any extra blankets. This was when there was -15C outside. It was also cold in the bathroom, although there was heat in the bathroom floors.

It's really a great hotel at the heart of Riga. The location is perfect for exploring the city, shopping (Galeria Central, Stockmann are round the corner) or entertainment (bars, restaurants, cinema complex at 5 minutes walk). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was great - big, clean, with all the amenities. The only thing is that the room was a bit chilly, but that didn't spoil the impression. The breakfast is very good - always for your choice eggs, meat, cheeses, cereals, porridge, variety of breads, etc.
