Have just stayed at the Centra Hotel for the fifth time in the past two years. This place is a small gem and I can recommend it for several reasons.

The location is great - right in heart of the old town with easy access to all points of interests. The rooms (standard as well as suites) are good value for money and are always clean and tidy. The staff are polite, welcoming and easy-going which in my opion makes for a more personable and pleasant stay.

Since it´s location is smacked down in the center of old town there will be activities on the street outside 24/7. But, it´s only on the weekends this can be a bit of a problem. Avoid it by getting a room on the top floors. Besides, if one wants total peace and quiet staying at the city center is not the smartest thing to do...

Can also recommend the "Steiku Haoss" right across the street. The food there is really good (if slightly overpriced) , the staff is wonderful and the bartender makes a Mojito of the highest quality....

The Centra is a great hotel at its price-range and a perfect place to stay at in Riga. Highly recommended!

This is a good hotel. We had a Suite and it was large with a nice interior. There were noice on the nights but we sleept really nice anyway. Breakfrust could be more variation on. Staff were very friendly, can strongly recomend their airport pickup, a huge BMW with driver take you straigt to the hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in May 08. Very nice hotel in good location. It is very convenient for exploring Riga.
Would recommend a room at the back of hotel if you want to be sure of quiet surroundings after 11pm. Mid-week is best.
Be aware that city restaurant and wine prices are expensive if you go above the 'cheap and cheerful' bars etc.

Lovely city to visit! We hope to return.

We have just returned from our stay at the Centra. 4 of us stayed - in a double room and a junior suite. Both equally good although the settee and high windows in the suite are great.
There are wide screen Sony TVs, a reasonably priced minibar and free water each day. Thanks to those before who mentioned the courtesy trays. We stayed Sunday to Wednesday and had no problems with noise but it may be a different story at the weekend so take earplugs just in case. Very clean and smart rooms and bathrooms. Extra pillows on request & nice toiletries.
The staff were polite and pleasant and the breakfast was good - meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals & coffee/tea and juices. Very acceptable. Would definitely recommend.
We enjoyed Riga and I think 3 days was sufficient. We went to the Museum of Occupation and it really is worthwhile. We ate dinners at Melnie Muki, Vermeita ar kaki & Lido* - all very good. Lunches were tasty & reasonable at the Cili Pica chains - try the dumplings. Cherry strudel to die for at a coffee shop in Tirgonu Iela (can't remember name but right next to the Lido Cafe* which is number 6!) Took a trip to Jurmala on the train - easy and cheap to get there. Fantastic soup at Cafe 53, Majori,Jomas Iela.

booked hotel through their website, fill out a form and they email you back, very efficent, They arranged transfer to the hotel from the airport.
Hotel was right in the center of the old town, could walk to all the tourist spots in the old town.
Rooms were large very clean and bright. The hotel was modern, clean and the staff were very helpful. Typical buffet breakfast for eastern europe included in the price of the room.

Loved it. We had a suite on the 6th floor with views across the rooftops. Couldn't fault the room - huge living area with comfortable leather sofas and separate bedroom. Style is smart minimalist with large LCD TV in living area and smaller one on bedroom wall. Mini bar prices were not a rip off either. Staff were attentive and helpful - you have to ask for the free tea/coffee making set and this was delivered within 10 minutes.

Old Riga is where the night life is and there are a few clubs close to the hotel. We were awoken by some noisy kids on their way home at 4am on the Saturday but it didn't last too long and wasn't repeated on Sunday.

No need to take the airport Limo that the hotel offers (it is 19 Lats!). Better option is the bus - there are two routes both of whch only cost 0.4 Lats per person, although they may charge an extra 0.6 Lats for large suitcases (not weekend bags!). The bus stops are to the right and across the car park from the Arrivals area in the Airport. Route 22 (every 15 mins) takes 30 minutes and the 1st stop after crossing the river (11.novembra krastmala) is a 2 minute walk to the hotel - if you miss that stop the bus terminates at the Central Station which is only a 5 minute walk but you might feel uncomfortable in the station area, and underpasses, late at night). Route 22A (every 30 minutes) takes 15-20 minutes to the cente of Riga (Katedrale) which is about 10 minutes walk to the hotel through the busy city centre streets. More details on [--].

We ate at the Lido chain of self service restaurants which we found to be authentic and good value (Vermanitis was our favourite).

We stayed at the Hotel Centra the weekend before Christmas, and it was a very good experience. The hotel is very conveniently situated in the old town, close to the Galleria Shopping centre (with lots of restaurants nearby, as well as the Kolonna Spa).

We used the pick-up service from the airport, which was fairly inexpensive (check the hotel website for prices) - and the car was now a nice Volvo. I would definitely recommend this service.

Our room was a suite on the top floor. We stayed in 603, and it was large and nicely decorated. The bathroom must have been redone lately, and was very classy. The carpets are a bit dark for my taste (brownish...) but the furniture and flat screen TV was nice. They had even put in fresh orchids!

The breakfast was not something to brag home about... But I don't know if it would have been any better in any other hotel.

Considering the price and location, I would definitively stay here again.
