Reval Ridzene is an excellent hotel with excellent staff and a pleasant restaurant.
I arrived late and got a smaller room but the staff agreed to change rooms te following day and I got a super comfortable place.
Nothing bad to say, even if I try.
A big thank you to the hotel staff who sorted out all kinds of problems due to the closure of airports (volcano ash crisis).
Will come again.

We booked a double room at the Ridzene in the centre of Riga, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and standard of the hotel for such a budget price. We paid around £160 for three nights' stay, which was excellent value for money.

Because we had booked a night flight, we'd contacted the hotel staff to see if it was possible for us to check in very early, as we were due to arrive at 6.30am. We were prepared to pay for this service, but we didn't have to, as the hotel staff were very accommodating, and said that this would be no problem. I'm not sure this would always be the case, but we visited at the beginning of April which seemed to be just before the start of the 'season', so the hotel was relatively empty.

We received a warm welcome after walking up the red carpeted steps to the hotel foyer (very amusing even though this probably wasn't the intention!), and the check-in process was quick and painless, which was a godsend after a pretty much sleepless night.

Our room was functional - nothing spectacular, but very clean and more than adequate space-wise. Our late flight/early arrival necessitated a sleep to give us the energy for exploration, and the bed was amazingly comfortable - I can honestly say (and my partner agreed) that I've never experienced such a wonderful sleep in a hotel.

The breakfasts were great - a full buffet, with cereals, toast, bacon, chipolatas, scrambled and boiled eggs, baked beans, sauteed spuds, yoghurt, fruit, lots of juices, in fact pretty much everything you could think of - and set us up perfectly for the day. The Piramida Restaurant was a pleasant setting - it was closed for dinner, but we weren't intending to eat there anyway, so this wasn't an issue.

We had a later flight home as well as our early arrival, so we asked if we could check out late - again, there wasn't a problem, and 3pm was more than reasonable. Again, I'm not so sure this would be the case if the hotel was fully booked, but for us this was another great touch. We stored our bags in a secure room and went out for the day, returning at around 7pm. We had a drink and a bar snack, used the hotel's free internet access which was available on two PCs in a room next to reception, and the hotel called us a taxi for the airport which arrived exactly on time.

Negative points? I really can't think of any - and if I did mention anything, it really would sound like nit-picking so I'm not going to bother! A great stay in a great hotel!

have just stayed in the reval hotel ridzene and it was an okay hotel, but i should not think
5 stars are justified there. Room were a bit small but okay. Wireless internet however was very bad and did not work most of the time. Breakfast was good and staff was very nice and spoke english very well. Now we are both farely fit, but a little warning for persons maybe not as fit. Bathtub was extremely high and as there were no handles getting in and out was a bit dangerous! Also there was not heating in our room, so it got a bit cold. Bathroom floor however was heated, which was very nice. Minibar was very expensive but nothing we used was replaced, which was a bit strange.
All in all our stay was fine, but not a 'five star' stay, however must add that rate was very reasonable.

What a great place !!!

Stayed for 4 days and was sad to be leaving .This is a first class hotel in a beautiful city.
The standard of the room was excellent and the food and service were second to none.
I will be going back to visit Riga again as soon as time permits and the first place I will be trying to get accomodation is the Reval Hotel Ridzene.

usually I'm not difficult and accept few minor issues but here:
- rooms are supposed to have free wifi: wrong! mine had such bad signal reception that it was impossible to connect
- shampoo bag in bathroom was empty: they have clearly not checked my room before my arrival!
- receptionist could not find me another room despite hotel was clearly not fully booked (it was already midnight but a 4 star hotel has to do something in such cases)

We spent two nights here and were very pleased by the room and the service. Breakfast included and it was very good. Location is within walking distance of everything and it is around the corner from the American Embassy.

On a recent trip to Riga, Latvia we stayed for two nights in the Reval Ridzene Hotel.

We arrived in Riga by bus from Vilnius, Lithuania and were pleased to find the Ridzene was a fairly short and easy walk from the bus station.

The staff on the reception desk were polite and efficient and spoke fairly good English.

Our room looked out over a park and the domes of the Russian orthodox cathedral.

The room was comfortable and clean. It did not provide tea/coffee making facilities in the room. However, it did have an in room safety deposit box facility.

Breakfast is served in the hotel's glass pyramid restaurant. There were ample supplies of hot and cold food plus self service tea/ coffee machines. We were happy both with the quantity and quality of food provided.

I was especially delighted with the hotel's excellent location. it is in the greenbelt which separates Riga's old and new towns which means it was quiet in peaceful at night time. It was also only a short walk away from Riga's very impressive Art Noveau district and an equally short walk away from Riga's old town.

The hotel also serves food in its pyramid restaurant in the evening but as there are many other nearby restaurants we did not try the hotel's evening meals.

Another available facility, which again we did not actually try (due to having too many other things to do), is its sauna.

Check out from the hotel was quick and hassle-free.

We received a thank you for your stay e-mail shortly after departure which I always think is a rather nice touch. I would happily stay in this hotel again.
