We stayed there in winter, so it was freezing out there! We were given a larger room (reserved a standard double, ended in a sort of apartment at the top floor), with no additional cost.
Sometimes it was a little cold in the bedroom, but there was an electric heater which worked fine.
Breakfast was ok, and I loved the local "Riga cookies".
As for the position, it is right in the city center, we never had to take a bus but to get to the airport.
I really suggest you to stay there, since it's really bargain.

I am Latvian living abroad. I needed to stay in the city centre and the Old Riga seemed like a perfect location. The room and bathroom is very spacios, nice flat screen TV with many channels (except Latvian?), good heating so you won't freeze when outside is -20 C. Staff was very polite and breakfast sufficient.
Overall I had a good experience and would recommend this place. The price is a total bargain!

Room Tip: Take a room with bathtub and enjoy!

Spent 3 nights at this charming hotel in March 2013. It was bitterly cold outside but warm and comfortable inside the hotel. A small, clean hotel perfectly located in the old town.

The room we were given was large and spacious and had the most comfortable bed I think I've ever slept in. There was loads of wardrobe and drawer space and our room even had a small balcony looking out onto the narrow streets below.
Facilities included a mini bar, hair dryer, large television (only BBC World though in English), extra pillows, fan, small heater.
The bathroom was spacious enough with a decent shower.

Breakfast was served in the small bar area from a central table with tea and coffee being served by a waitress. There was a toaster on a separate table to make your own toast and scrambled egg and sauasages if you wanted hot food. Whilst the breakfast isn't going to win any awards, it was adequate and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted and I had no complaints.

I noticed there was a supply of umbrellas for guests to use in the event of a shower - fortunately we didn't need to them. There was also a pc in the reception area which was available to use at a very reasonable 1lat per hour. There is free wifi throughout the hotel which is excellent.

I would certainly stay there again if in Riga and would recommend it to anyone reading this review who is considering staying there.

We stayed for 3 nights in January, very snowy and cold but rooms were equipped with a mini heater and were suitably comfortable. Spacious rooms with a double bed, mini bar, wardrobe and clean bathroom. Unfortunately we were situated on the near to a storage room and so mornings were sometimes noisy.

The hotel staff were very friendly and happy to give directions around the city. They were very polite during breakfast, offering to make drinks. There were only around seven tables in the bar where breakfast was served with a small buffet on a central table.

Overall an enjoyable stay, rather basic but we were more than pleased particularly due to the location; all shops, restaurants and bars were within walking distance. In particular, we weren't too far from The Skyline Bar which was beautiful for drinks around sunset. I would certainly recommend!

Room Tip: Our room on the top floor was rather noisy as it was near to a storage room of some sort.

We went to Riga in October 2012. The staff in Man-Tess was nice and friendly. Our room was on second floor, and we found it comfy. The bed was good, the bathroom/toilet was clean and the furniture was old but cool. The room was cleaned every day. If you're visiting Riga for the first time, ask the reception for a map. The location of the hotel was very good, it was right in the middle of Old Town. Though the streets were quite noisy during the weekends, you got to sleep. The breakfast was quite small, but manageable. You got a fresh cup of coffee every morning. The hotel was very cheap, two students could stay there for 5 nights.

Breakfast, bed, bathroom, location, service, internet and price all perfect. The only problem was the noise from people outside throughout the night. I am normally a deep sleeper but i was still woken up on a few occasions and never felt i got the best nights sleep. Pity because it is perfect in every other way.
