Decent room facilities but it needs air conditioning in my opinion. We stayed in July & it was very hot ( not complaining about the weather!) and our window opened into the enclosed courtyard. No breeze to move the air around.
Staff are friendly & there's an excellent buffet breakfast
The hotel is about 10 minute walk from the edge of the Old Town.
The hotel have a deal with taxi firm for airport transfers for 10 euro each way which was good value.
I would use this hotel again if I was staying in the winter months but definitely not in the summer!
We got a cheap deal through booking.com & it was value for money

If you are looking for a bed for the night.. then the City Hotel is definitely the place for you.

If is clean n spacious and has all that you need to get a good nights rest.

The beds were comfortable n the receptionists speak fluent English and are happy to assist in any way.

The one issue I had was at breakfast there was just no order around. You walk in and look around with no one to help or ask what to do. There was this one boy who was running around trying to replenish the buffet and clear tables.

So you walk in and try to find a place which is difficult as all tables are taken. Then you wait for someone to finish and grab that table and clean it yourself since no one is around to help you.

You pick up the dirty plates n put them on the side and hope the poor boy is fast enough to keep filling up the buffet as it goes very quickly.

Over all it wasn't too bad as the quality of food was fresh n good & it has a decent choice. The poor boy was trying his best but its not possible when you are doing everything alone.

The hotel was in a walking distance from Riga old town, but if you don't feel like walking, there is a hop-in-hop-off buss stop across the street. The rooms were nice and clean, plenty of space. Breakfast buffet was ok, did full our stomaches. Stayed here for three nights in September with friends, we had three rooms.

My recent stay in city teater hotel was very convenient. The professional staff was very efficient friendly and serviceminded. Extra personal touch was the mentioning of you name on the roomkey. The room was spacious the beds were very good, nice fresh sheets. The bathroom was very tidy and clean. The shower was more than terrific. i like it when hotel are aware of consciousness according the environment and ask to put your towels of the floor that have to be changed. This way we save energie and useless spoiling of water. Unfortunately the shower was soooo nice that i probably used more water then would have been used to wash my towels. ...... my fault. Riga is a big city so noisy streets are unavoidable. The street of city teater was reasonably quiet during the night for it is not situated on a very big and noisy street.
The breakfast facility's are excellent. A good variety . Even fresh fruit! The restaurant was good, ( amuse with compliment from the chef) Dishes were made with great creativity! The servant was very accurate and friendly.
Location is oke. about 15 minutes walking from the park where the old town starts and from the art nouveau quarter. And if you are really lazy you just take bus 3 ( around the corner)that will take you to the center.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the back of the building Not on the streetside.

The service is kind, they speak perfeczly english and offers a lot of information of see sights. Hotel is great, even breakfast was self service with a lot to choose of. It is near the town center, only around 1 km away. Riga is beautiful city worth visiting.
Nicely done!

stayed here over the Bank Holiday for three nights on fantastic expedia deal!
rooms were comfortable and clean - bathrooms have showers and hairdryers - flat screen tvs with BBC world news
quiet
breakfast was fine - some of the hot choices were a little peculiar for English tastes but there was more than sufficient options and some fresh fruit - dining room had some excellent views over the city
staff were very friendly and very helpful - thanks girls for the assistance with the Air Baltic on line check in (not particularly user friendly) and the free phone calls to Air Baltic
very fairly priced independant bar next door
a good 15/20 minute walk to the Old Town - if you get a Riga Card then you can use the bus/tram
had (charged) sauna - didnt use and the roof terrace was closed during our visit
would recommend

Room Tip: we were at the side of the hotel which was quiet during our stay
