buy e-tallon for 24 hours or 2 rides for each person at tourism information centre or any news stand, than take tram nr 11 and go to the last stop (may be one before last, you should step out) than you will see gates of riga zoo, which was established some 100 years ago. it is great and big fun for kids.

The zoo is a very good with a selection of animals. The animals are kept well. There was a special offer of LVL 1 per person in the evening but the regular price is also affordable. A very good zoo, recommended for families with children.

I went to this attraction with a local and it was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Admission is reasonable and the attractions are different from most North American zoos. The European Mink and Red Squirrels, for instance, were some of the more entertaining denizens, due to their interaction with the guests. Many of the large animals, as usual, were sleeping or bored. The smaller ones were far more lively. The zoo itself is easily accessible to the streetcar line and also has a large lake adjacent to it. It is a good walk, as the exhibits are fairly spread out, but the grounds are quite pretty, especially the hilly part of the zoo and the lakeside area.

Set in the leafy park suburb of mezaparks ( forest park) this is a people and animal friendly space where the emphasis is on making sure children learn something about the world we live in. Good cheap day out.

It was easter time, a sunny and warm day. we easily reached the zoo by public transport from downtown. The zoo has a great variety of animals and although you could not really see big felins such as tigers (because they were hidden somewhere), some bears seemed enjoying visitors and gave great shows.

There is a large collection or frogs and snakes. The Tropical area is really good.
It was fun to see all the kids screaming at the animals and running around happily.

I would advise to visit the zoo if you have a free day in Riga.

ps: discounts for students on entry fee!
