“Convivial hosts”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

When one chooses bed & breakfast accommodation, one always takes the risk that the hosts may not be as welcoming and friendly as one would wish.No such doubts here. Diga and Ric are the most convivial hosts one could wish to meet and we felt immediately relaxed in their company. After we had settled in, we all sat around a table and discussed Riga over coffee and cake. Diga and Ric gave us maps and recommendations of places where to eat and visit. The accommodation is really tastefully decorated in harmony with the structure of huge wooden beams and heated wooden floors. The large bed was one of the most comfortable beds I hace slept in. The breakfast was both delicious and plentiful all cooked to our requirements. This imposing property is located in the quiet affluent district of Mezaparks and a few minutes walk takes you to the No 11 tram stop, where frequent trams take you into the old town in twenty minutes or so. I certainly would not hesitate to recommend Homestay to all my friends and trip advisor readers as it is a really wonderful alternative to staying in a city centre hotel where late evening rowdiness can sometimes be a problem to ones quality of sleep.

Room Tip: We stayed in a connecting room which was really ideal for our family.

Thanks to Homestay we spent some awesome days in Riga. As we were walking a lot during the day to explore the city, we were really glad to have a place to stay where we felt "at home". Our room was bright, clean and very quiet. The perfect place to relax. The hospitality of the landlady Diga was great. She provided us with many excellent hints for sightseeing and also restaurants. One day she even took us on a short bike tour to show us the neighborhood. There are quite some impressive houses. It is really worth it to take the time for looking at them - especially if you are interested in architecture.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The fried potato patties were my favorite.
So overall, I can just highly recommend this place to stay!

Found Homestay through tripadvisor and found it to match the fabulous reviews. We stayed in the downstairs room at the front right next to the bathroom and found the whole experience just what we wanted. The bed was huge and really comfy, nice and warm too. The Breakfasts were incredible and just what a hungry man needs first thing in the morning. Rick and Diga were the perfect hosts - there when you wanted them without being in your face all the time. The animals were fine, I worried they might be a bit of a nuisance after reading other reviews but they really aren't. Computer easily accessible with usable wifi in the room.
Riga itself is a wonderful place being only 25 minutes away on the tram. The local walks and bike rides around mezaparks felt like a different holiday. Really recommended !!

Room Tip: I think all rooms are good :)

We stayed in the spacious family rooms in this fabulous house in the beautiful city of Riga with the warmest host one can imagine.

Staying here means waking up in a quite part of town to the bird's singing. It means being served a most satisfying breakfast. It means having interesting conversation with your host and it means meeting other interesting guests. And it is very comfortable.

In my view, there is really no reason why one wouldn't want to stay at Homestay.

I enjoyed my stay in Riga and Homestay helped make it feel more like home especially as a solo traveler. Diga was quite accommodating and was very helpful via email communication prior to my visit. The house is lovely and is close to a beautiful park. The tram is a close walk to get to town and if anything, it's a bit nice to stay outside of the city center. If I return to Riga, I will definitely stay at Homestay again!

Over the past decade or so, manu B&B's have essentially evolved to boutique hotels. And while that trend has its charms and perks, sometimes the homeliness and personal contact that used to define a stay in a B&B is lost somewhere along the way... But not so in this B&B!
Riga Homestay is a traditional B&B, where you live side by side with the owners. It has all the amenities and comfort of a star-studded hotel, but with added charm and hospitality. The owners are true entertainers that will introduce you to the strange wonders of this neighborhood (certainly one of the more interesting of Riga because of the motley crue of rich inhabitants).
Wholeheartedly recommended!

We went to Latvia on a choir tour and stayed with Diga mainly because of TripAdvisor reviews- The reviews are very accurate- Homestay is a very clean and comfortable house with beautiful rooms. Diga is warm and welcoming. The breakfasts are very large with a variety of options including pancakes, eggs prepared in a variety of ways, apple juice, toast, jelly/jam. Diga also makes a wonderful type of bread that is similar to Naan. The pets are present, and are a delightful addition. Diga and Ric take great pride in keeping the house and grounds immaculate. Diga's daily recommendations of where to go and what to do at breakfast were very helpful and made planning much easier.

Room Tip: We stayed in a first floor room that would have been excellent for individuals who have difficulty w...
